Is this only available in QBO? I have QB Pro 2020 desktop version.
Thanks for joining us here, Chris258.
Are you also referring to the Redesigned Reports feature? If so, this is currently offered in the Online version of QuickBooks.
You can also follow these steps if you you want to remove or hide sub-accounts in your reports in the Desktop version:

Hello,
Any movement on being able to export only parent accounts to Excel? Maybe you can at least automatically (or as an option) add data grouping so that the detail accounts can be easily hidden?
Thanks,
Tim
Hi Tim,
As of now, the option to export only the parent account is still unavailable in QuickBooks. That said, I'll take note of this and share it with our Developers.
You can also visit this page to check the status of this suggestion: Customer Feedback.
As a workaround, you may want to run the Transaction Detail by Account report and then filter the account. Then, click the export icon and then remove the sub-account transactions on the spreadsheet.
I've also added this article as your guide about report customization: Customize reports.
I'll be around if there's anything that I can help with. Keep safe!
If you click the blue "Collapse" link in the top left corner of the report and then save the customization, the sub-accounts will roll-up into the parent accounts and you won't have to click the little arrows to collapse them every time.
I have just starting using QBO and it is not very favorable to downloading reports to excel. In QB desktop, I can download my report with the rows that I want to show expanded or not. This should definitely be a feature in QBO. Currently I have to spend so much time to manipulate my reports.
Thanks for following up on this thread, @sue4booking.
Being able to download a collapsible-ready report would be a great feature. This would certainly save you time manipulating the report after downloading it. We have a Feedback section within QuickBooks where you can add your vote for this one or submit your ideas. Our product development team reviews all the feedback we receive to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our customers.
Here's how:

Can you save a customized report with some subaccount collapsed and some subaccount expanded. I have tried everything I can think of, but everytime I run the report it's all expanded and I have to go thru and manually collapse the subaccount rows I don't need on this report. I do see where I can collapse all or expand all and it saves in the custom report. But I have two parent accounts that I need to remain expanded where you can see the subaccount. And if I select collapse all, the arrow with the option to expand a row goes away. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
After you do this, is there a way to save the report with expanded and collapsed account rows. I've tried saving it as a customized report, but each time I run my customized report, everything is expanded again and I have to go back thru and manually click the arrows to collapse the rows that I don't need the subaccount detail on for this report.
I have this same question/need. Can Quickbooks please make this happen! Especially with the ever increasing cost of QBO, this should be possible to do.
Thanks for following this thread, christylist.
I understand how important it is for you to save the customized report so you won't have to repeat the process. With the Redesigned report function, you can choose whether to collapse or extend the accounts on your report.
Memorizing or clicking the Save customization button will save its current customization settings. It's strange that when you pull up the reports you've saved, everything returns to normal. You might have encountered a cache problem as a result of having too much internet data stored on your browser.
I'll outline the troubleshooting steps to resolve it. Let's start by accessing your account using an incognito window. Use the following shortcut key below:
Pull up the save report from the Custom reports tab. If it works, go back to your normal browser and clear the cache. This will refresh your browsing history and delete out-of-date information. You can also use a different supported browser as an alternative.
