How can I change my invoices to show the actual tax rate and not just say "tax"

I can share some more information about this preference, @michelle134,

If you're referring to the Tax column when you create an invoice, this field can't be customized. The tick box is used to tag if a sale is taxable or not.

For users using Automated Sales Tax, the rate is displayed below the Subtotal. The amount shown there is based on the billing address or the location of the sale. See this:

I'm talking about the verbiage "TAX" on the invoice line. Am I able to adjust it to say example "TAX 8.25%" ?

I appreciate the screenshot you've provided. You don't need to change anything on your invoice to show the information you need. You just have to make sure that the Tax option right next to the amount column is selected.

This will show the tax rate when you preview the invoice. See the sample screenshot below.

But I do NEED to change it. My customer is requiring on the invoice for the rate to be called out.  Once the invoice is converted to PDF it only reads TAX. If there answer is "its not possible"  I will have to create another work around.

The steps shared by my colleague above will only work if you're using the old Sales Tax Center. You may be using the automated Sales Tax (new) in QuickBooks Online (QBO) that's why the tax rate isn't showing in the invoice.

In this case, the option to add the rate is currently unavailable. You'll only see the total tax amount in the invoice.

While the option to go back to the old Sales Tax Center is currently unavailable, I'll go ahead and take note of this. Our Product Developers are always looking for ideas from users on how to improve QBO.

I am using Quickbooks Online and need to show the tax rate as well on my invoices.  Please get this implemented as an option!

I also need to be able to show tax rate (as a percentage) per line item. Please get this implemented ASAP!

Thanks for joining the thread and sharing your concerns. 

Although the option to use a percentage per line item isn't available, I have found a workaround that one of our champ users has suggested to other users. The workaround is to create a service item named discount (or tax, whichever works best for you) and link it to a sales income discount account. Then, set the rate to a negative % (-%10). When you click out of the rate box, QuickBooks Online will change that to -0.1. 

Once you added the new service item, use it on invoices or sales receipts, enter the amount for the tax as the qty.

However, before using this workaround, please discuss this with your accountant to ensure this workaround will work the right way for you. If you don't have an accountant, don't sweat. You can find one here in our Resource Center.
