How can I view my totals for each class?

To view your totals for each class in QuickBooks, you can run a "Profit and Loss by Class" report or a "Balance Sheet by Class" report. Here's how you can do it:

For Profit and Loss by Class Report:

  1. Log in to QuickBooks and go to the Reports menu on the left-hand side.
  2. In the search bar, type "Profit and Loss by Class" and select the report from the list.
  3. Customize the report by selecting the date range and any other relevant filters if needed.
  4. Click on Run Report to view the breakdown of income, expenses, and net profit for each class.

For Balance Sheet by Class Report:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. In the search bar, type "Balance Sheet by Class" and select the report.
  3. Set the desired date range and customize it as necessary.
  4. Click on Run Report to see your assets, liabilities, and equity totals for each class.

If you need further customization, you can use the Customize option to add filters, change columns, or group the data in different ways to suit your needs.

Let me know if you need help with specific steps or further adjustments!

Thanks for taking the time to post your concern in the Community, Awtarkaur.

I agree with Clatax's suggestion to run the Profit and Loss by Class report to view your income, expenses, and net income in your QuickBooks Online (QBO). Let me help you navigate in generating the Profit and Loss by Class in your QBO. Kindly follow the steps below:

  1. Log into your QBO account.
  2. Go to Reports, then click Standard.
  3. In the Find report by name tab, enter Profit and Loss by Class.

How can I view my totals for each class?

Thanks for the inputs - very useful.

Would appreciate if someone can help shed some light on the reason why I am unable to see BALANCE SHEET BY CLASS under Reports section (but I can see P&L by Class report)

How can I view my totals for each class?

Hi there, Ace. I'm glad that the answer provided by my colleague and CLaTAX was helpful.

Currently, QuickBooks Online (QBO) does not support a Balance Sheet by Class report. This is because a Balance Sheet reflects account balances, such as assets, liabilities, and equity, which are tracked at the account level, not by class. Class tracking in QBO works best for categorizing transactions like income and expenses, which is why you can pull a Profit & Loss by Class report.

As a workaround, you can utilize the Transaction Detail by Account report. This report provides a clear view of transactional activity grouped by class for deeper analysis.

To use the Transaction Detail by Account report:

  1. Navigate to Reports and search for Transaction Detail by Account.
  2. Select the report and click Customize.
  3. Under the Filter drop-down, you can choose "Class" to view transactions grouped by class.
  4. Apply other filters as needed to ensure the report includes relevant data.
