How do I adjust the columns and make them stay where I want them when editing an invoice?

Every time I open an invoice to edit it, the columns revert back to different (random) sizes than what I set them at when I last saved the invoice.  For example, the due date column reverts back to very wide (more than needed for a date) and the description column reverts back to very narrow making it difficult to read the contents. This happens EVERY time I reopen a previously saved invoice and I have to readjust ALL of the columns AGAIN so I can see the contents the way they should appear. I have 'Custom Invoice' checked in Customize, but the editing version of the invoice doesn't keep the column sizes I set or the way they are in the Custom Invoice template. The editing version even shows a Service Date column which is not on my template or needed for our invoices. How do I get the columns to stay at the size I put them at when creating and saving the invoice?

How do I adjust the columns and make them stay where I want them when editing an invoice?

Thanks for visiting the Community, @lp_mi. I'm here to provide information regarding saving your invoice preferences in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The customization with the invoice columns will stay intact if you're using the same browser as your initial setup. Just make sure you're using the supported browser versions for QBO. Refer to this article for more details: System requirements for QuickBooks Online, Accountant, Payroll, and QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Furthermore, if you have recently cleared your browser's cookies, your edited and saved columns will be reverted to the standard format. Browser cookies track, personalize and keep your website preferences for each user's session.

To save your preferences, make sure you're using the same browser when you have adjusted the invoice columns.

Additionally, we've got these articles to help you review the recorded sales transactions and how to personalize your sales forms inside the program:

Mine have been doing this every time I open an new invoice or previously done one...every time for the last month.  Haven't cleared my browser, using the same Chrome browser, everything is updated, nothing has changed except for the issue-----again and again.

Maintaining a saved preference so you won’t need to adjust each invoice setting helps you save time and reduces errors, Tony. I've got some details about this process.

Given that you are using the same browser and have not cleared its cache, your customizations on invoice columns should remain intact.

To help you maintain your invoice preferred format, adjust the widths and layout of the columns and ensure you click the Save and close option when creating or editing a previous one. This action will finalize the invoice and implement the changes after saving it.

You should see improvements in retaining your preferred layout after following these steps. If the issue persists, you may contact our QuickBooks support team. They have the complete tools to review your account in a safe environment. Then, provide you with the appropriate resolution.

Moreover, QuickBooks offers features for recording invoice payments and personalizing sales forms, helping you manage cash flow and track customer balances. Check out these articles below for more details.

We're here to ensure your invoicing process is as smooth and efficient as possible. If there's anything else I can assist you with regarding your invoices or any other QuickBooks features, mention my name in the comments.
