How do I associate a photo to an item in QB Enterprise 18.0? I am not seeing the picture option that I read about on the internet.

Thanks for posting in the Community, @HotTubMan. I can provide clarification about attaching files in QuickBooks Enterprise.

An image, or another file type, can be attached to a transaction, but not to a product/service. One option would be to include the desired file on a sales transaction, like an invoice.

Additionally, there are other areas that a file can be attached, such as customers, fixed assets, and vendors. For additional insight into this process and the necessary steps, I suggest this link: QuickBooks Document Center: FAQs and common issues.

If you have questions on this or any other topic, please don't hesitate to let me know. Wishing you well.

David,

Thanks for your response however the Document Center you reference says, "You can attach documents to anything in QuickBooks that has the paperclip icon. This includes many list items such as transactions, accounts, customer names, vendor names, employee names, other names, and inventory items."  However Inventory Items do not seem to have this paperclip to attach a document, such as a photo.

Regardless it would be very helpful when managing inventory to be able to associate photos of the inventory items to assist in proper identification by customers and employees.

There is a paperclip for items in the Item List under "Lists".  You can attach a photo to an item in the table view. However, to view the item you have to access it as well in from this same "List" view AND it has to be a PDF file, Quickbooks Desktop does not have a program installed that recognizes a jpeg or other media type file. (We are using QB Enterprise 20.0 with Advanced Inventory)

Has there been any update on this? Are you now able to attach a picture to an item?

Thanks,

Thank you for joining this thread, davidstntr.

I recognize how vital it is for users to have the ability to associate a picture with an inventory item. Adding this feature can help your inventory list be organized. Allow me to share an alternate solution to help you achieve your goal.

Adding a picture to an item is not currently an option. I'm unable to provide a timeframe for when this feature becomes available.

Additionally, there are apps available that allow you to easily add images to your items and transactions. The Intuit Marketplace is a convenient hub where you can discover a variety of programs that are compatible with QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

To find an app, simply enter a keyword in the Find Applications bar or navigate through the Categories section to narrow down your search. Make sure to check customers' feedback from the list, as it will provide valuable insights for comparing each app.

For more insights about the various file types you can attach to transactions and answers to common questions on how the Doc Center works, refer to this reference: QuickBooks Document Center: FAQs and common issues.

Moreover, these resources cover a wide range of topics including setting up the barcode scanning function, providing step-by-step instructions to enhance your inventory movement, and access to all aspects of the sales order process:

Feel free to reach out if you have any other concerns about your inventory or if you require any help with attaching documents or pictures to your transactions and items. I'm here to lend a helping hand and would be delighted to assist you. Enjoy the rest of your day, davidstntr.
