How do I change from SCHEDULE PAYMENT to MAKE PAYMENT. Paying with checks not online.

I understand the frustration it takes when something isn't working the way it uses to. The current investigation about this problem was already tagged as closed and resolved by our engineers. To turn off the feature and for you to pay your bills manually, I encourage reaching out to our Support Team. They'll be able to check this further for you and review why the Schedule Payment option is showing up on your bills instead of Make Payment.

Why would you tell him to contact anyone, when you know darn well that it isn't going to be changed back?  

Tech support will NOT do anything for ANYONE!!

Don't be fooled by her response.  THey have NO intentions of changing anything back.  You can check my post from about a week ago, with the email that they sent me.  

All you can do is click the arrow next to where it says "Schedule Payment" and click on "Mark as Paid".  THAT is how they are making us "Make a Payment".

We are having the same problem. I have found that you can still pay by check by clicking new at the top left and selecting check under vendor. then you can put in the payee and it is pretty much the same as before. hope this helps

And for those wanting to mark it as paid with a credit card, you can click on the button for New Transaction in the vendor window and select Expense and then record the credit card payment.  Took me 10 minutes to figure out how to do what I used to do with the Make a Payment button!  I can't wait until they fix this.  I keep opening the BillPay window every time I want to record a payment by check or credit card.

I'm sorry if you think they are going to fix it, because Intuit has no intentions of doing so.  Please read the entire comments and questions posted here and you will realize that Intuit claims they will investigate the situation.  They even go so far as to tell you to contact technical support and no one there knows how to fix it because they won't change it back to the way it originally was!  They even gave me links to articles that have nothing to do with my request for help in this discussion to begin with!  Trust me when I tell you, if you found a work around, good for you, but don't believe that they will change it back!

That's all fine and dandy if you actually PRINT your checks in QB.  We don't.  The owner(s) write out the checks or pay by credit card, or even a combination of both, at random times.  And it is NEVER one invoice at a time.  Most the time, it is 30-75 invoices to a (or many) vendor(s), every month.  

We have the workaround.  That's not the point.  The point is, they have unnecessarily added steps to the check process, now.  It should be something that we each get to decide on.  Not Intuit.  It should be a setting in QBO, somewhere, instead of the greedy incompetent QB Company.

I agree that it should be a setting in their system, but they are the ones that made the change without our knowledge left us without recourse and have not looked into the issues.  So whether you print your checks or not, I agree that there now are more steps to go through to accomplish something that we didn't have as many steps previously.  As I previously stated Intuit will not listen to your needs and/or complaints about this situation; in fact they will NOT even address the issue/issues satisfactorily.

I agree, very frustrating.  One way to pay bills with a check is to go to the + New box on the upper left side of the screen.  When you click on it, there is a Pay Bills option.  Click on that and it is pretty self-explanatory from there.  I hope this helps.

I did some research and did find that this investigation has been resolved. This investigation has been determined as working as designed.

 

The option to "Make Payments" has been changed to "Mark as Paid" when going to make a bill payment. On the Expense screen, you'll see the option "Schedule Payment" under the action column, you'll click the black drop-down arrow and select "Mark as paid." There will be no further updates on this investigation.

The only work around I have is to go to expenses and vendors.  At the top of the list is a search area - type in a keyword and hit return - do not click on any drop down suggestion.  The matches of the keyword will show up and to the right will show make payment. Click on it and it opens up what we are now missing in order to write checks and record a payment.  You will have to manually unclick all of the invoices though but at least I can record the way I used to.

The best way I have found to have an option similar to  the Make Payment that used to be on the right side of the list of bills is to open the Vendor Transaction List for the vendor you wish to pay, go to "New Transaction" in the upper right, drop down to select "Check". This will open the Check window and you should find the list of bills to be paid to that vendor on the right. You can then click on the ones you wish to pay with that check. You do have to click on each bill rather than having the old option of checking the box at the top of the list of bills to mark them all as being paid on one check. Repeat the process depending on how many invoices you wish to pay per check. The bills will then be marked as "PAID" in your vendor ledger. I was also very frustrated, but I do hope that this helps.

We pay our vendors with checks.

I do not enjoy dealing with issues like this as it takes valuable time away from my actual work needs.

Return us back to Make Payment, and stop making changes and assumptions for your clients!

I understand how continuing to use the Make Payment option would be more beneficial for both you and your business. I will personally submit product feedback to our developing team, so this may be considered in a future update.

1. Click the Gear icon at the top and choose Feedback.

 

 

2. Type your feedback in the text box, then hit Next.

Hey Ya'll frustrated QuickBooks users getting no help from the people WE PAY to get services from.....

 

MY OWN RESOLUTION: I go to  +NEW... Vendor Column .. Pay Bills....click the box next to the Vendor name....Save & Print...Print Review....Print Check.  It works.  
QBO really does NOT care about the customers wishes and keeps making adjustments and additions that are NOT necessary and further complicate the daily processes of usage. 
JUST LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE QUICKBOOKS....we were all doing just fine till you monkeyed around causing more time consuming QB issues we have to stop our regular work to TRY to get some resolve... Usually to NO AVAIL!  NUFF SAID!!!

BAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!! This morning they elevated me to a LEVEL 1.

Now with my disgruntled posts on the poor services regarding the NIGHTMARE of Schedule Payment...
I just got demoted to LEVEL 2.  Wow!  All in about 2 hours.  
Bad business!  Way to support your PAYING Customer base QuickBooks!!

Tori, how dare you suggest that we as users go to provide feedback.  THAT'S WHAT WE'VE BEEN DOING FOR THE LAST MONTH.

 

The best feedback I've been giving my customers is to transition to Xero who offers a competitive product without constantly forcing changes and upsells to their customers.

I just encountered this problem.  I spent an hour and a half with a tech support yesterday only to get logged out and loss all record of the exchange.  He was completely unable to assist.  Additionally, he had me delete payments that I am finding nearly impossible to recreate.  Agree totally with your comments regarding Quickbooks being out out touch and uncaring.  This is a complete sham.  BTW have you found an alternative to quickbooks?  Even more disconerning is that you cannot leave the online system and take your data with you.

Allan, you can leave online and get your data it is complicated to move it to desktop QB as it glitches. I have moved a company's info previously to desktop. The more data and intricate details there are the worse it will be. This new system they have set up to only benefit themselves is ludicrous. I sent feedback and they aren't going to do anything. I would hope clients start dropping their online services.

I'm going to rant. Quickbooks is up to it again, remember the Taxes fiasco. So I'm going to spend 1-2 hours that I don't have to get the program back to the way I, the user, like to use it. So much for human-centric design. The user-friendly roll out of "Schedule Payment" is to make it an option & educating us on it instead of forcing it on us. So let's think about the amount of time Quickbooks is having its users waste. There are approx 1-million users x 2-hours = 2-million hours. The value of this time can range from $30 million to $60 million. Now add in Quickbooks support time, so double it.

 

Really Quickbooks. Is the value of forcing your user base to use Schedule Payment equal to or greater than $60 to $120 million?

I was just told by "TECH SUPPORT" that could send me a step by step instruction on how to pay my bills by check??????  I have been using Quickbooks since it's debut!!!! NOW How do I get rid of the Schedule Payment option!!!!!!

I agree with LTG here. Enter the bill and pay trough +NEW tab in the dashboard "Pay Bills". Frustrating but the benefit of paying multiple bills at once.
