Hi there, sarahmfain-gmail.
The option to modify or delete a product and service in QuickBooks Self-employed is unavailable. Rest assured, I'll take note of this suggestion and share it with our Developers team.
Your ideas help us to have a more friendly user interface.
If you want to let your customers pay the invoice electronically, you can check this article: Many ways to get paid.
If you have other product suggestions, you may post them here. Stay safe!
Thank you for your response! It would be very helpful to be able to edit/delete products and services. For example, I am an occupational therapist and I bill various treatment codes as services. I forgot to include one detail in my original service created and now I am unable to change that. I created another service with the appropriate details but I had to use a different name/title for the service that isn’t as appropriate as the first one I used. This is very limiting and may impact the information my clients need on their invoices when they submit them to their insurance companies.
Is there any other solution you suggest? Could this option been added very soon?
Thank you,
Sarah
It's ridiculous that you can't make changes or delete a product/service. I have come across the same problem, as I have changes all the time depending on the situation. It makes me want to drop my plan...just saying - you should really fix that.
This seems like a pretty big gap in functionality: not being able to correct mistakes made on a commonly used line item for an invoice! I guess I'm back to using Google Sheets instead of your product...
This really needs to be a thing. Why are we paying $15+ for something that lacks basic functionality that we could create using Office 365? The point in using your service is to save us time and hassle from going down that exact road. Honestly, at this point, we are considering other services. The fact that there doesn't even seem to be any urgency to resolve this "issue" is very telling on Quickbook's behalf and what they honestly think about the Self-Employed customer base.
Any update/progress on enabling this option in QB SE? The current option is extremely outdated. I would think that by now it would be possible for QB to update the "frequently used" or "all" lists. Rather than having to scroll through all of the items, perhaps you can implement a filtering or drop down method. There are probably 100 "products or services" that I don't use anymore, and they sit there rather than there being an option to delete them. I understand when you start typing, that options pop up, but most of the time, those are correct and I need to create yet another product or service to add to the list. Please, please, PLEASE consider updating this soon.
Thanks for joining in this conversation, @Cameron16. I understand you need the option to modify or delete a product and service in QuickBooks Self-employed.
I can see how beneficial this feature is for everyone. I'll take note and pass this idea to our engineers for future consideration.
In the meantime, I'm inviting you to submit your suggestion by going to the gear icon and selecting Feedback.

Definitely considering switching to another service. Can't even access the customer list. It clearly exisits or else you wouldn't be able to draw from the data every time you create a new invoice.
Such basic functionality intentionally stripped in order for you to pay more to access another of their more costly products.
Ya, I’m going to pile on these complaints as well. The fact that Im not able to delete a service or product I no longer offer is absurd. How is that not a usable function for customers??? That seems very basic
I can't believe this has been an open issue for over a year now.
It seems that QB put the Self-Employed thing together and has put almost nothing into the development. What, you have 1 customer care service person and 1 programmer working part time to address the issues?
QB needs to get serious about supporting the program or just drop it. Supporting halfway makes it doomed to failure.
I'm also looking into other services that are a bit more mature and have support.
I agree this subscription should include more customization and functionality… I need to edit product and services and find it very frustrating that I cannot. I didn’t realize I would be so limited when signing up.
Hello, Andrea.
I do agree with you that adding more customizations and functionality would make the Self-Employed platform better and more flexible.

Seriously? Deleting or renaming a service would be a basic task. When will we see it in the Online Self Employed Version?
Hello, HarleyRiderGuy.
We understand that each business has unique needs, and each version of QuickBooks has unique features.
As of this moment, we don't have specific time when this feature will be added in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
Our developers are working hard to improve QuickBooks.
To see what's in store, I'd recommend keeping an eye on our Official Blog, which is where new software features and improvements are first announced.
Your patience is much appreciated. Have a great day!
I have the same question. A 3rd part piece of junk (practice panther) installed multiple products and services I cannot delete. I no longer use this service. Similar issue with MyCase. I would assume QB understands relational databases and allow the customer to make changes to their:
Really brain dead - zombie feature, I am a new user so maybe I am missing something.
I agree with the other customers commenting here. QB Self-Employed seems like an afterthought product, or an avenue to force increasingly desperate users to more expensive products. I'm a sole proprietor and don't need more than basic functionality, but I need the invoicing feature to work every time. (It was recently down for almost 2 months through the webpage.) I need to be able to change customer information and products and services details. Etcetera. Very frustrating, and I feel stuck, because all of my info from the past 18 months is in QB.
Would love to see others post which other services you've tried that may be better.
Pretty shameful to not have such a basic feature but even more embarrassing on top of downright lazy to not have corrected this problem after how long ago the issue was raised. Shows you the lack of community input being used or much less even taken into consideration by the QB developers as well as customer service. Its a DELETE BUTTON. Just ridiculous.
Why can i not delete a service? A basic feature... I will be dropping my account because of it.
Are we able to delete/edit the product / service lines yet? I noticed this was originally requested in 2020 so surely the request has been honored by now. Please advise how to modify.

I agree! It's just absurd that we are paying for a product that lacks some pretty basic functionality. Hope they fix it soon because I'm definitely on the verge of finding a new bookeeping and invoicing solution.
How many t imes are we supposed to suggest a feature only to have it fall on deaf ears?
A milion. Each time a QB employee posts a copy-and-paste response about how much they value our input and are always looking for ways to improve their product, my eyes roll further back in my head. I have a bunch of test products I put in the list when I was first using the system that I can't delete. It's ridiculous. And the line about "different businesses use it differently?" I'm sorry, EVERYONE who uses this product would want the option to delete a product or service even if all that happened was a typo in the name.
Interesting. Over two years after I wrote my response, the issue still hasn't been resolved. I'm glad I decided to leave QB and do my own thing with Office 365.
