How do I generate a report by location and by month?

Let me help generate a report by location and by month in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You can run the Profit and Loss report, then simply filter its report period and displays columns to get this data. Here's how:

1. Go to Reports and open the Profit and Loss report.
2. Under the Report period drop-down list, select Custom.
3. Filter the dates by month by manually entering the reporting period.
4. Choose Locations under the Display columns by drop-down menu.
5. Click Run report.

In my QB report, in "Display Column By", there is no "Locatio" option

The mentioned feature is only available in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Plus and QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced. If you’re using the Simple Start or Essentials version, I suggest upgrading your subscription to ensure you can categorize data from different segments in your business.

If you wish to keep your current subscription, you’ll have to manually track each location of your business. This reference provides detailed information about location tracking. It includes instructions on how to activate the feature and instructions to add or delete a location.

WTF are we paying for then?  This is a simple filter that is needed to run sales tax for business licenses quarterly for multiple jurisdictions.  30$ extra a month for that?  Im going to take my business elsewhere.

I have quickbooks plus and location is not an option on my P&L under columns. Is there another way to search by states?

With QuickBooks Online Plus, you should have location available on your Profit and Loss report. Since you're not seeing this option, let's double-check your settings to ensure you have location turned on. 

Here's how:

1. Go to Settings, then select Account and settings.
2. Tap on Advanced.
3. In the Categories section, click the Edit icon.
4. Select the checkbox to track locations.
5. Hit Save, then Done.

Is it possible to generate a report specifically from 1 location only.  I don't want to see the other locations.

Yes, you can generate a report specifically for one location only. You can use the filters to achieve your desired result. It only takes a few steps.

Here's how:

1. Go to the Reports menu on the left pane.
2. Open the report you need.
3. Click on the Customize button.
4. Go to the Filter section.
5. From the Location dropdown, select one.
   
6. Click Run report.

Finally, you'll want to export the result to an Excel or PDF file by clicking the Export button in the top right corner of the screen.
