How do I reorder a prouduct/servce line entered on an invoice? i.e. entered hours for Oct 15 out of order and need to move it two lines lower. Doesn't drag and drop?

Hi there, SE-55321.

 

When you re reorder a product/service listed on an invoice, you'll need to manually enter the item per line. There's no option to drag the product/service line to copy the product.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Select Invoices from the menu and select Create invoice.
  2. Select an existing customer, or create a new one by entering their name, address, and email address.
  3. Decide when you want to be paid by and set the date in Due Date field.
  4. Select Add product & service to add items or services you sold. Enter a description of the service.
  5. When you're ready, select Send invoice to email your invoice. You can also select the arrow and Preview to see what your customer will receive.

This reply is NOT helpful.  There actually IS a way to move lines in an invoice, but it doesn't appear to work consistently!  This is a QBO error and should  be fixed ASAP,

 

One cannot enter lines in the invoice manually when there is a bill attached!  When attaching a bill to an invoice, the line entry addes to the bottom of the invoice.  But, I need it grouped with other bills higher in the invoice ledger.  Therefore, I need to drag the new entry up to place it in order with other similar bills.

 

I have done this in QBO in the past.  Why doen't it work now???????????

I hear your sentiments, quinnesi. Let me share some details to help you reorder your line items in invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

I can see the importance of making the option to reorder the line items in an invoice works smoothly and consistently in QBO. Rest assured that I'll relay this idea to our team in concern here on my end and add your vote for this one.

 

In the meantime, I'll share two options you can utilize to help you achieve your goal. The first one is adding the product/service before adding the billable item or alternately. See this screenshot for your reference:

The second option is to add all of your billable items and select a line item so you can see the plus (+) button. Once you click it, it will add a blank line item to the top of that line item that will let you choose a product/service item for that line. Here's a screenshot for your visual reference:
