how do i see a report on received-and-deposited money for the year?

I'm happy to help find a suitable report for you! Cash Receipts Journal report will work great here!  This report shows you all of the payments you received and deposits you made within the selected time period, with a subtotal for each customer, and a grand total at the bottom of the report.  Here's how:

1. From the QuickBooks Reports menu, select Custom Reports, then select Transaction Detail.
2. Enter the appropriate date range.
3. In the Columns box, select the following columns:
   • Type
   • Date
   • Num
   • Memo
   • Clr
   • Split
   • Amount
4. Select the Total by drop-down, then select Customer. If you want, you can also select different criteria, for example, Total by account or Total by month.
5. Go to the Filters tab and from the Filter list, then select Transaction type.
6. From the Transaction Type drop-down, choose Multiple transactions, then check off the following:
   • Deposit
   • Sales Receipt
   • Invoice
   • Payment
7. Choose the Detail level filter, then select Summary only.
8. Select OK.

Note: whenever there is more than one split account, the report will show the word SPLIT in the Split column. This report will not show each split account by name.

hi jessica, thanks for your reply – this doesn't seem to be working for me, the things you mention for me to do don't seem to exist... i'm in qb desktop mac, do i need to follow different directions for that? thanks!  -todd

I appreciate you for following the steps shared above. I'll add some additional information or steps to ensure you're able to see a report on received-and-deposited money for the year. I suggest running the Deposit Detail report and customize this. This way, you're able to filter the date range and to view gross receipts for what was deposited during the year.

Here's how:

1. Click the Reports menu at the top.
2. Choose Banking and Deposit Detail.
3. Click the Customize Report button.
4. Go to the Filters tab. Then, select Transaction type on the search bar.
5. Choose Multiple Transaction Types, Then, checkmark the Deposit and Sales receipt.
6. Hit OK and OK.
7. Go to the Dates drop-down arrow and choose a specific date range or this year.
