Please can you tell me if this still works? I've only got the option to import Google contacts (via CSV) rather than link them as I used to be able to on the Mac app.
Hi Nelly111S!
You can still import your Google contacts into QuickBooks Online. Let me help you.
You're right! Currently, the option to bring in your contacts is via Excel or Google Sheets. You can export your Google contacts into Outlook CSV or Google CSV, then format it correctly. You can check the contact field descriptions and restrictions by clicking this link: Which contact fields are imported from Excel?
Once done, follow these steps to import the file:

Aside from contacts, you can import other data into QuickBooks Online. Learn more by checking this article: Common questions about importing data to QuickBooks Online.
I'm looking forward to assisting you again. Have a great day!
Alex,
Do you mean that the post above by @MaryLandT is no longer correct? I don't want to use a CSV import. It's horrid and clunky and the sort of stuff I did on 486 computers in the 90s. I want to do what I used to be able to do - link to my Google contacts and pick the right one when I need a new customer inside Quickbooks. If this is no longer a possibility, please can you amend the post from Mary?
Neil
Hello, Nelly111S.
The steps provided above by Maryland are for adding a new customer. However, if you wish to import them, you can follow Alex steps above.
Though, you can use a CSV file (Comma Separated Values), Google Sheets, or an XLS/XLSX file to import information to QuickBooks Online.

@AileneA, I explicitly said in my response "I don't want to use a CSV import.". Without wishing to sound rude - why have you suggested this?
Rather than use a CSV import, its easier for me to use the Quikckbooks app on my phone and create a customer by pulling the data from my phone's contacts. Still a workround though.
@AileneA, @AlexV @MaryLandT . I would like to know
"Are the instructions that are given at the top of this page, as a solved solution, still valid"?
By the way, I'm in the UK - didn't realise I was posting on the US bit of the forum, but I doubt this makes a difference.
Thanks for clarifying that you're using a UK version of QuickBooks Online,Nelly111S.
We have also taken note of your feedback about the import feature using a CSV file.
The steps given by MaryLandT are for sending invoices using your personal Gmail account. It will no longer import contacts after connecting your Gmail account. Check out these articles for more details about this feature:
For now, the only option to import contacts from Gmail and any other apps is through a CSV file if you're using the web version.
If you have the QBO app, you can also import your contacts directly into the app. Follow the steps in these articles for additional information:
