How the frick do I get my old layout back!!!! \\

Hello there, shine.

I see you're used to the old invoice layout, and I understand that some changes may have an impact on your business efficiency. However, please keep in mind that product enhancements were made in response to customers' previous experiences with classic invoicing.

That is why our product developers modified the form's design to improve the invoicing experience for both new and existing customers. These updates are intended to make navigation easier and more user-friendly.

While the changes are currently taking place. On April 24th, approximately 70k QuickBooks Online Simple Start and Essentials users (May 6th for Plus and Advanced) will be migrated to the new layout, with NO option to switch back to the Old Layout. When the migration is complete, the old layout will be deprecated by the end of May 2024.

With that, I suggest submitting feedback to our product developers to share your inputs and suggestions about the recent update. Like this:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  3. Then click on Next to submit.

You can also provide feedback by opening the invoice form and selecting the Feedback icon located in the upper-right corner of the page.

For more information, feel free to read this article: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

I've also attached a useful resource for you to use as a guide when recording customer payments: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you still have other concerns or follow-up questions about invoices. I'd be happy to assist!

So just to be clear, Quickbooks saw all these people reverting to the old layout because the new one is garbage... and decided the way forward was to force everyone to the new one without a choice?

Quickbooks has shown that they believe they know what their customers want better than their customers do. Even with us screaming into the void trying to tell them for MONTHS that these new changes will cause their software to be unusable for us, they have forged on.

And so we cannot use Quickbooks anymore and have to migrate to other software. There are many cheaper options out there now. This was the instigating incident to finally force us to jump ship.

yes, this is extremely frustrating. I am most frustrated by these changes especially because I am just an employee, not anyone who chooses what programs we use for invoicing. It is slow to load, which is incredibly annoying for an invoice page that looks much more rudimentary. And I love that the response is "Sorry you hate it, you asked for it!"

Thanks for becoming part of the Community, chiluchuku.

Most pages within QuickBooks should load in 10 seconds, however since this is a web-based service, it also relies on your computer or device's processing power, the amount of available memory (RAM), and your bandwidth for the internet connection to perform as intended. A shortfall in any one of these areas can reduce performance.

Before checking system requirements, since you're encountering slow response times, I'd initially recommend checking your browser. It's possible this could have something to do with temporary internet files. Browsing applications store these types of records, but sometimes they can cause issues with certain webpages. You can open a private window and check to see if pages load properly.

Here's how to access incognito mode in some of the most commonly used web browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

If pages are loading correctly while browsing privately, it's safe to say this problem's being caused by your browser. It can be fixed by clearing cached data and Intuit-specific cookies.

In the event screens continue not loading properly while browsing in incognito mode, you'll initially want to try switching to another browsing application.

Here's a list of supported browsers:

  • Google Chrome - version 78 or newer
  • Mozilla Firefox - version 76 or newer
  • Microsoft Edge - version 79 or newer
  • Opera - version 68 or newer
  • Samsung - version 10 or newer
  • Safari - version 12 or newer

QuickBooks supports the current and two previous versions of browsers. If you find that you're using an unsupported version, make sure to update it to its latest release. Steps for doing so can be found on the particular company's website.

In the event you've found no problems that could be causing this with your browser, you'll want to check the operating system and internet speed you're working with.

Here's our recommended operating systems and internet speeds:

  • Windows PC - Windows 10, Intel Core i3 or a comparable processor (2013 or newer) with at least 2 GB of RAM, or Windows 10, Intel Core i5 or comparable processor with at least 4 GB of RAM.
  • Mac - OS X El Capitan 10.11, OS X High Sierra 10.13, or newer.
  • Linux - QuickBooks works with Linux, but you'll want to make sure you're using a supported browser and our recommended internet speeds.
  • Internet connection - 1.5 Mbps to 3 Mbps or higher.

You can learn more about how to check your internet speed in our Why is my QuickBook slow? article.

If you meet each of our system requirements, but are still encountering pages that load slowly, I'd recommend using a different device and/or internet connection. If it continues happening on other devices and internet connections, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up the account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

They can be reached while you're signed in.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Help (?) icon.

  2. Click Contact Us.

  3. Enter a description of your situation in the What can we help you with? field, then hit Let's talk.

  4. Select Start messaging or Get a call.

Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.

I've also included a detailed resource about system requirements for QuickBooks which may come in handy moving forward: System requirements

If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a lovely Tuesday!

How the frick do I get my old layout back!!!! \\

I was doing the same thing too, until the update was forced on me. I viewed the beta option that they had so we could see the new layout, and INTENTIONALLY did not update, because it was JUNK! Since being forced to have a layout that is HORRIBLE, I have submitted several messages with feedback, as every day I find YET ANOTHER annoying issue with the new format...

1.)  I HATE this invoice layout! It is too busy, and I cannot see all of the information that I need to while I am creating it, or when I am shipping out product.

2.) This format for creating & editing invoices is horrible!! I cannot quickly see everything that I need to as I am processing orders. I cannot quickly copy/duplicate an invoice for customers who often order the same items. All the fields that I need to be larger are smaller, and all lumped together. I also cannot view everything that I need to view at once, because the invoice is just too large. I cannot opt to print my pack slips from the editing screen, as it prints the background space in grey & uses twice as much ink, which we do not want. I have to exit the editing screen, go to invoices, and process the printing as a batch. It is also much harder to ship out orders, because of the way that the information is organized on the invoice. This new format has TRIPLED my order processing time, and I do NOT have the time for that when I have hundreds of orders to process!! Please fix this ASAP, BEFORE August!! I want the old format back!!

3.) Is there any way to reformat the pack slips so that the sections that need to be together are together? The way that is is newly formatted has "Bill to"; "Ship to"; "Shipping info"; and "Invoice details" all lumped together. They are too small to read easily. The old format that had only THREE sections at the top, and then the remaining ones below was much more legible & practical. Please help!!! We need something to change before August, since I am processing & shipping out a LOT more orders then. I will not have the time for the issues that are presenting themselves now...

There is also no way to bypass the block of color that shows up on all pack slips now, so we are using more ink for every pack slip that we print out. This new update is just a time suck, and a waste of money in the long run for a small minority owned USA eco-friendly business.

How in the WORLD can they say that this new format improves efficiency??

I will FOR SURE be looking for a better option if this does not change...
