How to get the list of Journal Entries?

Thanks for posting here in the Community, detzion. I'll help you locate your past-created journal entries.

 

Viewing the journal entry list allows you to track and review past entries accurately. There are a couple of ways to access this list, such as pulling your recently added entries or running a Journal report.

 

Here's how to pull up your recent entries list:

 

1. Go to + New in the top right corner.

2. Select Journal Entry.

3. Hit the counterclockwise arrow icon.

4. Click View More.

 

For visual reference, check out this screenshot.

Furthermore, to generate a Journal report. Here's how:

 

  1. Open Reports.
  2. In the search field, type a keyword (Journal, for example).
  3. Choose Journal.
  4. Set the date range to All dates.
  5. Click Save if you want to use this custom report in the future.

 

Additionally, you can create and print a journal entry report for a single entry or multiple entries together.

How to get the list of Journal Entries?

I converted from QB desktop to QB online recently.  None of my many journal entries came over in the import.  According to QBO, I can import journal entries via a CSV file.  I cannot find a way to EXPORT entries from my QB desktop app.  Does anyone have a way to do this?  I have been using QB desktop for 18 years and have far too many journal entries to re-enter them manually into QBO.

Thank you for reaching out about the transition from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO), @caViman88.

 

I recognize the hurdles  dealing with the journal entries not carrying over during the migration process. Let me provide some additional guidance on the import capabilities within QBO.

 

QuickBooks Online allows you to import a variety of data types, including bank transactions, accountant's changes, general journal entries, and batch transactions. You can also import your customers, vendors, and other master list data. This provides a lot of flexibility to bring over your critical business information.

 

Regarding the issue with your journal entries specifically, it's possible there was an issue during the conversion process from QBDT to QBO. General journal entries in QBDT should normally convert to journal entries in QBO. As a workaround, you can try exporting the journal entry data from QBDT through reports or other means, and then importing that data into QBO. Before you import your journal entries, make sure everything looks correct in your spreadsheet. 

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to Settings , then select Import Data.
  2. Select Journal Entries.
  3. On the Download page, select Browse
  4. Find and select your CSV file. Select Open, then Next.
  5. Map your information. Your Field represents the headers on your spreadsheet. From each small arrow ▼ icon, select the one that matches a field in QuickBooks Online.
  6. Choose Next. If there’s an error, edit the file and try again.
  7. Click Start import.
  8. Tick Done.
