How to recreate entries without affecting bank or QB balances

how do i record/recreate a deposit in quickbooks online without affecting the QB or bank account balance? The money was previously deposited already in the actual bank account (tracked in another accounting system) but I have to show  th"deposit" of that amount into the bank account in order for it to be recorded as a "debit" to a current a liability account and offset a "credit" to that same liability account.

How to recreate entries without affecting bank or QB balances

Good afternoon, @cstokes.

Glad to have you here in the Community.

I'm happy to explain how the entries work with QuickBooks Online.

There isn't a way to re-create the entries without affecting the bank balance or QuickBooks balance.

Once data gets entered, it will hit each account included in the entry.

If you have any other questions, reach out. Have a great day!

Ok. How would you recommend the best way to go about doing this entry?

How to recreate entries without affecting bank or QB balances

Thanks for getting back to us, cstokes.

You may want to create a clearing or holding account and use it for your entries. This way it will not affect your bank or QuickBooks balances.

Here's how:

  1. Click Accounting in the left panel and choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select New
  3. Select the account type and detail type. You can learn more about account types and detail types if you have questions.

You can learn more about creating an account in QuickBooks Online: Create a new account in your chart of accounts in QuickBooks Online.

However, the assistance of an accountant is a must. Your accountant can provide more expert ways of dealing with this situation.
