Yes, there's a way to automatically set up the Chart of Accounts that best suits to your trucking company. This can be done in the first phase of setting up your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account from the Tell us about your business page. If you're still on this page, let me guide you on how to achieve that:
The screenshots below show you the steps.
After that, go to Accounting from the left menu. Then, select the Chart of Accounts tab to view your customized accounts specific to your business. See the screenshot below for your visual reference.
However, if you already went through the first phase in setting up your QBO company without choosing the business type, there are two options to set up your accounts:

I am new CPA/Controller for 3 service LLC companies currently set up on QB online. The chart of accounts and accounts set up are a disaster. Have just about straightened out, however, few remaining questions:
how set up company as SERVICE company - ie; NOT COGS but cost of services rendered
how to get ride of $0 amounts on P&L for title/group names - ie: Cost of Services Rendered. Various accounts set up to be grouped under but this account has $0 amounts showing on P&L !! Same with Selling, General & Admin Expenses. Totally inappropriate. Isn't there a way to format reportss to comply with standard GAAP headings and procedures ??
Is there a way to move ALL transactions in an account to another account, without going one transaction at a time?
My 2nd LLC service company, thankfully, does not have account numbers. Is there a way to start fresh and use historical 2020 data (first year in business) to present as service company and set up account headers, etc.?

Hi there, @janice toporek.
You can set up a service company when signing up for QuickBooks. Where you can choose what type of industry fits your business.
To format a report, you can modify it using the customize feature and save it for future use. Let me show you how.
Here's how:
If you want to comply with the standard format you needed for a report, you can export the report to Excel. You can save this customized report by clicking Save customization. Then, go to the Custom reports tab when you need to pull up this report in the future.
For additional reference, you can check this article on how to customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
You can move all the transactions by merging into one account. Please check this article for detailed steps on how: How to merge accounts, customers, and vendors.
If you want to start over, you can do this for accounts that are less than 60 days from the day it is created and is irreversible. However, for accounts that are more than 60 days, you'll have to cancel your current account and start a new one. You can check this article for more detailed instructions: Delete your data and start over in QuickBooks Online.
