I charge a 2% credit card convenience fee. Last week (approx.) the "fee" is being captured during payment but QBO is not creating the secondary invoice for this 2%

How do I get quickbooks to realize this additional 2% as convenience fee and auto create the accompanying invoice? Right now, it sits as a credit on the client side.

Hello there, everythinginkllc.

I've got the details on how you can include the 2% credit card convenience fee on the invoice.

You can create a service item for the 2% charge fee first. Here's how:

  1. Go to Sales on the left panel.
  2. Within, the Products and services tab, click New.
  3. Select Service.
  4. Give the fee a name.
  5. From the Category drop-down arrow, select the category that best describes the fee.
  6. Fill out the rest of the fields as needed.
  7. Once done, click Save and close.

Looks like you've sent an invoice already. QuickBooks will not automatically create an accompanying invoice. With that, you'll need to create another transaction with the service fee and send it to your customer. This way, they'll be aware of the amount they need to pay for the charge. Here's how:

  1. Go to the +New button.
  2. Select Invoice under Customer.
  3. Fill out the invoice.
  4. In the Product/Service drop-down, select the fee item you created.
  5. It would be better to include a note about the invoice the fee is related to in the Message on invoice section. Also, include the invoice number.
  6. Then, hit Save and Send or Save and Close.

If you haven't sent the invoice yet, you can add this service item as another line item in the invoice.

Feel free to read this article for more details: Add service fees manually to invoices

Also, I've got an article about customizing sales forms. It guides you on how to personalize the invoice, estimates, and sales receipts.

Let me know if you have other questions. Take care always and stay safe.

I was informed by QB that this is a known issue with BETA that they are working on. On previous transactions,  the OP is correct. If you selected the customer to pay the CC%, once paid, QB would add a separate line item to the original invoice and would allow the bank transaction between Intuit and QB to match up correctly.

They have created a GIANT mess. Now, every CC payment shows up as an overpayment and you have to manually go through each transaction, add the Convenience Fee line item yourself, and then go back to match the transaction separately. It also throws an Alert Message for each CC overpayment on your Dashboard for every transaction.

Until this issue is resolved between QB and Intuit, I wouldn't recommend the Online CC Payment feature to anyone that charges the client the CC fee. It may not be a burden to some, but if you receive several CC payments a day, you will lose valuable time that is hard to find...
