Hello there, @root76.

Adding a dynamic variable for the month & year to the recurring invoices is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online. As a workaround, you can manually enter variables every time an invoice recurs.

Also, you have the option to your customize invoice.

If there's anything else that I can do to help, just let me know by adding a comment below. Have a good one.

I'd also like to request this. We bill monthly service fees and have to manually edit every invoice to update the current month in the description. Variables or tokens like <<Month_Name>> in the invoice template that are automatically replaced when a scheduled invoice is created are desperately needed. Simple feature to develop, powerful end user experience.

Are there any 3rd party invoicing plugins that can currently do this??

Hi there, @srhean.

Let me assist you on how to search for a third-party app in QuickBooks Online. You can search internally within QuickBooks Online account for third-party apps that can help you add something in your invoice template. You can follow these steps:

Here's how:

  1. Login as Master Admin or Company Admin in your QuickBooks Online.
  2. From the left panel, select the Apps tab.
  3. Search for an app that can fit your needs.

Also, you can search for a third-party app externally that works with QuickBooks. You can visit this link: QuickBooks App Center.

For more detailed information about customizing the invoice template and also for your invoice report, check out to this link: QuickBooks Online Help Article.

Just let me know if you'll need further assistance. I'm always around here in the Community to help. Take care and have a wonderful day!

@srhean

Explore this billing management app to integrate with QBO.

You may set a dynamic period like this

Is this still true?  This is a simple thing that should have been created many years ago.

Hello there, Blazman.

I understand the relevance of having the ability to add a dynamic variable on recurring invoices. I'd personally want this feature on my file to keep track of the month and year once your customer receives this invoice. As a workaround, you can manually enter variables when creating invoices from a recurring template.

Also, you'll want to consider looking for a third-party application to help you add variables to them. We can find and choose several apps within your account or in the QuickBooks Apps Center.

Here's how:

  1. Go to your Apps menu.
  2. Enter a keyword on the Search field, then select the app.
  3. Click the OverviewPricingReviews, and FAQs to view the information.

Moreover, I've added this reference to help you add specific information and create a professional-looking on your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

You can always get back to this thread if you have additional questions or other QuickBooks concerns. We'll be right here whenever you need help. Take care,

It's almost offensive that you answer in this manner.  "We have this great automation feature, it's very limited in function, our work around is to do it manually."  A simple "we do not have that feature and have no plans to add that feature"  would be less offensive.
