Hi there, @CS20.
I'm here to share information about saving an inventory item in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Enterprise.
When you save notes to an item, it will automatically save to the Notes section on the Inventory Center. Here’s how to check the item notes:
I've provided a screenshot for reference:
With regards to showing the item notes when editing the item on the Item list is unavailable. I'll feedback this to our Product Engineer to let them know about these ideas so they can put it into consideration for future product updates.
You can check our QuickBooks Blog to know the recent news and updates about QBDT Enterprise.
If you have further questions, please let me know. I'll be happy to help. Have a good one.

Thank you, perfect answer. and thanks for passing along to developers; Notes should be viewable similarly in different parts of the application (centers).
I found this thread as a result of my notes disappearing from the inventory item editor, after upgrading from Premier 2012 to Premier 2020. It looks like 7 months have passed without the suggested changes being made. If the Notes are no longer going to be made visible in the editor, how about at least adding a flag icon of sorts on or near the New Note button, similar to how the Attach File button appears in the Create Sales Order screen? Then one would at least know whether there are existing note(s) for the item.
These people are so stupid for the way they changed the note on an inventory item. Whoever changed this should be fired !!!!
Hello
I too was looking for the item notes; I found it thru the inventory center.
Is there a link that can be added on the edit item window to view the notes after entering the notes
What is the point of entering a note if users can't see them? Our inventory system is completely messed up. Therefore, we were using the notes area to datestamp and note when a correction to an item/pricing was made so we knew it was updated and correct...I put a lot of work into some of these only to find the notes don't stick - ridiculous, what is the point of the note??
Thank you for this information. I, too, couldn't find it: it would be very useful if we could add a column in the item list. thank you.
I am having the same issue with QB Desktop Pro Plus 2023. When NOTES are entered and saved for an Item (inventory or non-inventory) it disappears. We have to go back to check to see if it's saved and almost 100% of the time reenter it before it's saved. A huge WASTE OF TIME and totally inefficient!
The same thing is happening in QB Desktop Pro Plus 2023. If you enter notes BEFORE you update any data fields for an item, the notes save. If you update data fields first then add you notes and save, the notes are NOT there upon return and have to be re-entered. It SHOULD NOT MATTER in what order data for an item is updated and saved. Figuring this out has been a HUGE inefficient waste of time. Intuit needs to fix this!!!
Hello there, HMCarley.
I can see how challenging re-entering the notes and make them show in the system. I hear your sentiments and got your point on how important to fix it.
