I mistakenly recorded a payment on an invoice that we did not receive

Let's go through the steps on how you can remove a payment from an invoice in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You'll need to locate the invoice in question first:

1. Highlight the Sales tab.
2. Select Invoices.
3. Search for the invoice on the list, then click it.
4. Press Edit invoice.

From the Invoice page, follow these steps:

1. Click the link under the PAID status.
2. Tap the other link on the pop-up window that appears.
3. This opens the Receive Payment window. Scroll down, then press the Clear Payment button.
4. Hit Save and close.
