Hi there, @tsteward-ats-pa.
How was your weekend? Hope it was great!
To clarify, which part of the invoice are you trying to add an extra blank line? If you're trying to add it in the product/service area, this isn't available currently. I understand the importance of having QuickBooks Online function the way we see fit to better our business needs. With that said, I wanted to mention sending in your product requests to our Development Team. Our Developers review each request and consider them all for future updates. You can use the link I've included below to submit your request.
However, if you are referring to another area of the invoice, please let me know.
I'll be sure to keep an eye out for your reply, and look forward to chatting with you soon. Have a good one!
Thank you for the response. It's disappointing to hear that I can't add a simple blank line in the invoices. It allows for separation of services, materials, labor/time, etc... and just makes for a cleaner invoice. I've done it for years with my previous versions of Quickbooks, but I just upgraded to this new version of the Quickbooks online. It seems like it's not asking for much, and that Quickbooks "dropped the ball" on this one. Please share my two cents, as that's the only way to make positive change.
Thank You
This is an incorrect response from QB. I have been adding blank lines for years. Until last week. Now, when I add the blank lines between the products and services and the "Received By:" line, when I print, it removes all lines and jams that line on the next line below everything else, making it a busy mess now.
Again, this only started happening to me last week, not in December like she is telling you.
We are delighted to see you in our Community space, Finishing Guy. Thank you for reaching out to us. We understand that encountering runtime issues while adding lines to invoices can be time-consuming.
We appreciate you choosing QuickBooks Online (QBO) to assist you in managing your business operations. We recognize the importance of efficiently utilizing the program without any difficulties. It would be helpful if you could provide us with screenshots and a step-by-step description of the process you follow when adding lines to your invoices. This will enable us to offer you accurate information and solutions.
In the meantime, let's troubleshoot the issue to isolate the problem. QuickBooks sometimes behaves unexpectedly due to browser-related issues. To begin, please log into your account and attempt the activity again using a private window. The keyboard shortcuts for different browsers are as follows:
If it works, return to your regular browser and clear your browser's history to start afresh. We also suggest using a different supported browser because the QuickBooks version you're utilizing now may have a temporary malfunction.
Feel free to read the following articles that provide guidance on managing invoice-related tasks:

IT IS AMAZING TO ME HOW CLUELESS THESE PEOPLE ARE.
go look at any thread and you see the same thing. someone asking a simple question and the professionals responding to something COMPLETELY different or are just straight up wrong.
oh but they will type a paragraph telling you how happy they are that you are talking to them and how they read hope you are having a great day... wasting time on useless codling instead of just answering the question. QBO is trasHHHHHH
Same here - I'm very upset as I need blank lines and the ability to add new lines in between previous entries - I can't figure that out either. Some idiot is trying to justify their job by making something that was easy very complicated.
Mine has been fixed. Here is what was causing my issue.
Click the gear then Account and Settings then Sales. In the Sales Form Content section, somehow the "Service Date" option was turned on. Once I got it turned back off and restarted QB Online, all was well in the world.
So, nothing to do with clearing my cache or rebooting my browser or machine....it was a QB feature that caused my issue. Hope this helps you as well.
Please get this "feature" added back into the online QB ASAP. It's invaluable to ensure that documents are easy to read for customers, separating out various sections of an estimate or invoice.
Having no ability to format an estimate or invoice is a real negative of the new layouts.
Hi there, @Mbwlewis.

Feel free to reach out with other questions or concerns regarding Invoice in QuickBooks Online. We'd be glad to assist. Keep Safe!
Quickbooks Online is horrid. Intuit should be ashamed. I have yet to speak to anyone that has anything good to say about it. I was warned about attempting the online version. And I should have heeded that warning. I'll say it again. Intuit should be ashamed of this product.
Ugh, I tried your solution... Doesn't work for me using Chrome. I'm so tired of functionality being taken away. I finally figured out how to get a blank line on the invoices I created last year now it's mucked up all over again.
Intuit teams need to have binders of requests from clients (who are footing their salaries!) that they are required to use for quality control when they jump in and make wholesale changes, to ensure that the things we've ALL pointed out to them again and again don't get lost in their pride of making-things-better!
Thank you, Finishing Guy, for solving this for me. Since Intuit is forcing us happy QB Mac Desktop users to QBO, I would have thought it had grown up by now. Tried it years ago and it was very limited in Estimate & Invoice customization. Doesn't seem to have changed much. Now paying much more for a lot less. The blank lines in forms make a huge difference for readability by the clients. Needs more custom columns and fields. Looks like their next move is to force the "Updated Layout" and tell us we need to upgrade to a version that is double the price just to get these basic functions.
It was a "feature" until this year at some point. Now it just simply deletes blank lines automatically. It also won't allow me to insert a subtotal inline, only at the very bottom. How has functionality gone backwards with this product?!
I can see how useful that would be for QuickBooks Online (QBO), Chad.
We recognize being able to print blank lines in invoices is beneficial if ever it was available. Having this would give you more flexibility in managing your invoices. However, this is unavailable at the moment.
With this, I suggest passing this information to our Product Team for consideration for implementation for future product enhancements. It depends on the number of requests we receive from the customers. To do so, here's how:
About adding a subtotal, you can move the line items from your invoices to insert the line by dragging the ellipsis double. I'll add a screenshot below for your visual reference:
You can visit our Feedback forum page to keep track of the feature's progress.
