In cash flow planner, I want to update a Planned credit card payment from the statement balance to a custom amount, press Save, but the amount is not updated.

I’m here to help so you can successfully update the payment to a custom amount in QuickBooks, @pas4.

Cached data might be the reason behind this. Please know that once the browser's cached files have issues, QuickBooks functionalities may get affected. You can perform some troubleshooting steps to get this fixed.

First, open your QuickBooks Online account in a private or incognito window for testing. You can use these shortcuts keys below for quick navigation:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P

Once logged in, try to update the payment to a custom amount and save it. If the figure change, get back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Doing this helps the program to run better. You can also use other supported browsers as an alternative.

Hi, thanks for your quick response.

Unfortunately, neither updating the Custom amount in a private window or after clearing cache gave the expected result.  Not working with Chromium-based Edge or Chrome.  Suspect a bug.

Best,

I'm having the same issue, and the prescribed remedy didn't work either. Would love to see this working so I can actually use this paid feature.

Quickbooks is a continual let down in my experience.

QBO support please update us on any resolution to this ongoing issue.  It has been nearly two years since the original post.  The Cash Flow Planner could be an awesome feature if it worked as well as the "Projected Balance" feature in Quicken which I have used for years for personal finances.  We pay you over $1000/year for the software.  Fix it!

Every time I save manual inputs to the QuickBooks CashFlow planner nothing saves when I navigate away from the page an come back. This tool is pointless if it can't SAVE the PLANNING that we input. Has this been fixed yet? I'll continue to lean on DryRun, Cashflow Tool, and Syft in the meantime which are all great CashFlow tools among others. But this really needs to be a working feature in QuickBooks online.

Thank you for the prompt reply @KayePe.  Your quick response shows that Intuit is paying attention and I appreciate that.  The Reports tools are powerful although the process outlined in the link you posted is a lot more time consuming and lacks the immediate feedback and global overview provided by a well designed visual chart.

For anyone who is a visual person and has been using Quicken for personal finances you know that one of the most informative features is the "Projected Balances" line chart which allows customization to show or hide color coded balance data over time by any account that would be classified as "Cash" or "AP" in QBO.  It also accurately utilizes current balance and future transaction data and allows granular modifications to repeating reminders one month in advance.

The "Cash Flow Planner" has some similar features but the ability to customize different cash flow scenarios is flat out broken in some cases as evidenced by the number of posts on the topic in this forum per the following links: Link Link Link Link Link Link Link and probably a few more.

Please elevate this discussion to be a "Feature Request for Cash Flow Planner improvements" to resolve the issues posted in the links above and/or provide similar WORKING functionality to what is available in Quicken's "Projected Balances" feature.
