issue: Add previous invoice to project. keeps deleting info

I have quickbooks online and use the desktop app.

I'm trying to add a previous invoice to a project that I just created.  I did not have the PLUS plan before and now I'm trying to track all my projects.  I went into the invoice and changed the drop down from the customer name to the customer project. This worked fine on the first project.  I then did it on another project and it deletes all the info on the line items and the total amount.  I have to cancel out to not loose all the data.  I restarted the computer just to make sure and it does it on any computer I do it on.

Let's run some troubleshooting steps to isolate why the invoice data keeps deleting, WFR84.

There are times that an issue like this can be resolved by running some troubleshooting steps. To start with, let your user open QuickBooks on a private window. This is the best place to identify any browser-related issues.

You can let them use these keyboard shortcuts to open one:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift N

If it works, they can go back to a regular browser and clear its cache. A piled cache can also be the reason for some unexpected page behavior.

You can also let them switch to a different supported browser like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.

Afterward, let's try modifying the invoice again and assign it to a project. I've also added this article that talks about creating projects in QuickBooks Online: Set up and create projects in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if there's anything that I can help. Keep safe!

Let me join this thread, WFR84.

We can move the invoice from customer to project by simply selecting your project from the Customer drop-down. In addition to Adrian_A's suggestions, we can clear the cache in the QuickBooks Online desktop app. From the Help menu, click Reset App Data.

Also, you'll want to log out and log back in. If this behavior persists, it's best to uninstall and reinstall the app. Refer to the QBO Windows App Help Guide under the How do I uninstall? section.

In addition, you can always access and manage your account using a supported and updated browser

Here are some of the articles about the project feature. These will show you how to use it and other things you need to know.
