Making a journal entry, accounts will not come up, why?

I'm delighted to see you here in the Community, @useraccounting34.

I can share some insights about current assets not showing when creating Journal entries.

Normally, when you create current assets in the Chart of accounts, it will show in the account dropdown menu when creating a Journal entry. If this account is not in the option, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors and/or unusual responses.

Let's start by accessing your account using a different or a private browser. You can use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift N

If it works successfully, you'd want to clear your regular browser's cache to prevent any unexpected behavior. Also, you can use other compatible browsers in QBO.

Once everything is set, you can start re-recording journal entries in QuickBooks Online.

Also, you can create and review adjusting journal entries. This a type of journal entry that adjusts an account's total balance. Accountants usually use adjusting journal entries to fix minor errors or record uncategorized transactions.

Please get back to me if you continue to get the same results in making a journal entry, so I can look further into this. Keep safe and take care.

Welcome to the Community, Hilary.

Let me ensure you'll be routed to our best help available so the accounts will appear when making a journal entry in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

I appreciate you taking the initiative to perform basic troubleshooting steps to resolve the concern. Since the issue persists, I'd recommend reaching out to our customer team. This way, they can do a screen-sharing session with you in a secure setting to identify the cause of the missing accounts. They can also walk you through the resolution and create an investigation if necessary.

To do that:

  1. Go to the Help icon and select the Search tab.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Provide a short description of your concern and select Continue.
  4. Choose between Chat with us or Have us call you.

Furthermore, you can reverse a journal entry in QBO to update and correct it. You may also delete the entry if you created it by mistake.

We're always open to any questions about journal entries. Just leave your reply below, and we'll get back to you right away. Have a great day ahead!
