Hi Lisa-S.

I'm happy to help you figure out which report is the original, follow these steps below:

  1. From the Reports menu, select Memorized Reports then select the report you've memorized.
  2. With the report open, select Help then QuickBooks Help (or press F1 on your keyboard).
  3. The Help Article window will open and display the title of the original report at the top of the article.

You can also check out this helpful article which highlights the process above as well as how to create, access and modify memorized reports

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to post below, thank you for your time and have a nice afternoon.

Hi Nick,

I have tried this and it does not work. Please see attached.

Any other way to determine the original report?

Many thanks,

Lisa

Hello there, @Lisa-S.

Let me help you access the original report you wanted to pull up. I suggest switching to single-user mode to access the report without any issue. Let me show you how to do it.

Here’s how:

  1. Have all users log out of QuickBooks except for you.
  2. Log in (if you are not already logged in).
  3. Go to the File menu.
  4. Choose to Switch to Single-User.

QuickBooks will close all open windows within the program. Then a message will appear letting you know that QuickBooks is now in Single-User Mode.

If the issue persists, let's update your QuickBooks to the latest released version, here's how:

  1. Select the Help menu.
  2. Choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Click the Update Now button from the Overview tab.
  4. Pick the Get Updates button.
  5. When the download finishes, restart QuickBooks.

For step-by-step instructions, you can read through this article: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

Keep me posted if you have other questions. I'm always here to help.

Hi Mary,

I have updated my QB...I do not believe that updating has anything to do with my issue.

What I need to know is:
"How do I determine the original report of a memorized report I created?"

I tried the F1 when the report is pulled up and it does not show the original report name as I was told in a previous answer to my question. I have attached an example of what happens when I do this.

Can you help?

Many thanks,

Lisa

Hello there, @Lisa-S.

I appreciated that you followed the suggested steps provided by my colleagues. However, let me add some troubleshooting steps that will help you determine the original report of a memorized report.

As I can see in your screenshot, it seems that you're trying to pull up an inventory report, so you can manually open the report by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Select the Inventory tab.
  3. Choose either Inventory Valuation Summary or Detail.

Also, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support so that they can pull up your account in a safe environment. They can also check why does the Help menu is not providing a result for the original report name.

For your future help, you can read this article to learn more about customizing the inventory report to pull up the specific report you want: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you'll need further assistance, please feel free to leave a message in the comment section. I'll be happier to help. Take care and have a great day!

Hello,

I also need to know the original name of a memorized report .  I want to know if you ever got a true answer that worked.  F1 does not work.  Thank you.

Thanks for joining us here today, @ljw8.

I have some information about getting the original report name. When you edit or modify the memorized report, you're unable to view its old name.

However, based on the modified report, you can go back to the Report Center and look for it from the list.

As an example of the attached screenshot shared by @Lisa-S, that report is called Item Profitability. You can find it by going to:

  1. Reports at the top.
  2. Select Jobs, Time & Mileage.
  3. Click Item Profitability.

Additionally, here's a link that covers all tasks you can do when using the report center.

Keep me posted if you still need about payroll. I’m more than happy to assist further. Have a great day ahead.

Nope, that does not work.  I have a memorized report from months ago.  I want to know what original report I had started out with.  Has nothing to do with payroll, etc.  When I edit or modify my report or go into the report center, it just displays my report name as it is now.

Thanks for joining this thread, @pacificjatc. I want to make sure you'll be able to find the original name of your memorized report.

When you create a memorized report, you can open and access them in the Report Center. From there, you can review and see the original name of the statement.

Here's how:

  1. In your QuickBooks file, go to the Reports menu.
  2. Choose Report Center.
  3. Select the Memorized tab.
  4. Find and click the report.

Moving forward, when saving a memorized report, it would be best to enter a new name. This way, it will be easy for you to find the statement. For additional insight on how you can manage your saved reports, you may consider checking out this article: Modify, edit and delete Memorized report.

Additionally, let me share this link to help you combine your financial reports from multiple QuickBooks Desktop company files. Doing so will help you organized and have a better overview of your companies’ financial behavior.

Keep me posted if you have other questions about reports in QuickBooks. I'll be happy to help you again. Have a pleasant day.
