We have an open investigation about Zimbabwean dollar missing in the currency list of QuickBooks, Ngaty.

Our engineering team is already working on this issue. I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Team. They can add your profile to the list of affected users and will provide updates about this.

  1. Click the Help menu in the upper-right corner and select Contact us.
  2. Enter the details of your concern and click Continue.
  3. Choose on how you want to reach them and enter the needed information.

We'd appreciate your patience as we work for a fix.

Hi JamesDuanT,

May you please  advise if the ZWL will be put on the list any time soon, thanks.

Hello, Ngaty.

As of the moment, the investigation about this is still ongoing. They don’t have a turnaround time as to when will the Zimbabwe dollars place back to the currency list. Though I’ll make sure to keep an eye on this and will keep you posted once there are updates.

Stay in touch if you have other concerns about QuickBooks.

Thanks MikiD,

Say in the interim i use another random currency in place of the ZWL, will i be able to change the currency should the Zimbabwe Dollar be added onto the list?

Hi Luke!

Technically, you can temporarily select a different home currency while the Multi-currency function is off. It can be changed later on. However, I would not suggest doing this.

Here's the explanation: When you turn on Multi-currency, you will have an option to choose your home currency again, and it will be locked forever. This would also mean all your existing transactions will use it. Their amounts will stay the same, but their symbol will be based on that currency. Also, all your existing customers and vendors will automatically be set to that home currency and you won't be able to change it. With these reasons, I'd suggest not choosing a temporary home currency and waiting until the issue will be resolved.

Here's an article for your additional reference: About Multi-currency.

I found out how to do this. As long as the home currency is Zimbabwe doallar already it will not change - so you dont have to select it from the list of currencies. The fact that is not in the list doesnt cause a problem.

I now have the Zim dollar as my home currecy and have selected USD and Rand as alternative currency options.

Here's a suggested workaround:

Use USD as your home currency and any random other currency such as the BOB to represent ZWL.

Ignore rates suggested by QBO and always override them by inputting your own rate. You'll just have to live with the "BOB" appearing in place of ZWL. This may confuse your suppliers and customers initially.
