My invoice layout will not update.

I can not get the new update to invoices. When I click on "UPDATE LAYOUT" it goes to the new layout for a few seconds and then goes back to the old layout.

My invoice layout will not update.

Hi, @aw05925.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community about this.

A cache-related issue is likely causing you to switch back to the old invoice layout. In this case, let’s do some troubleshooting steps to fix this.

We can use a private or incognito window to rule out cache issues in your browser. Here are the shortcut keys:

  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Safari BrowserCommand + Shift + N

Log in to your QuickBooks Online account then switch to the new layout. When it works, you can clear the browser's cache. This removes the webpage data that’s causing the issue.

You can also add Intuit as a trusted site to ensure all Intuit-related browser plugins are working properly.

Although, you can use other supported browsers to use the new layout.

Also, I’m sure these articles will help you manage your invoices in the future:

Please feel free to reach out again if you have any follow-up concerns. I'm here to assist.

My invoice layout will not update.

Hello.

I am having the same issue, and cleaning cache didn't make it work.

I has been like this for a while. Some days it works, some days it doesn't.

Any other recommendation on how to get it to work?

Thanks

My invoice layout will not update.

I appreciate you joining this thread, and considering the steps shared by my colleague above, ctmontoya. I'm here to provide further details.

Our engineers are currently investigating the issue of the invoice layout reverting to the old experience instead of remaining on the new experience.

For now, I recommend contacting our Support Team to add your company details to the list of affected users. Rest assured we will provide an update once information is available. Here's how:

  1. Within your QBO account, go to Help in the upper-right corner.
  2. In the Search tab, click Contact us.
  3. Enter a brief description of your concern.
  4. Click Continue.

While waiting for a resolution, you can read through this article to explore the new estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online: See what's new with estimates and invoices. This article also contains additional links that provide information about the new layout.

Be sure to post in the Community if you have other questions about invoices and QuickBooks new experience.

I cannot even begin to imagine how hard this experience has been, @Greenlight signs

I deeply understand the importance of working with features we're comfortable with.

After carefully checking my resources, we have an ongoing investigation about the invoice layout automatically switching to the old display after updating it. With that, I recommend contacting our support team. By doing this, they'll get your account information securely, and you'll be listed as one of the affected users. And will be notified about the progress of the investigation accurately.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help icon, then select the Search tab
  2. Choose Contact Us
  3. Enter a brief description of your situation in the What can we help you with? area.
  4. Click Continue, then choose Chat or Callback

My invoice layout will not update.

I was testing a new invoice layout and I added "test" after the invoice number to differentiate from the real invoices and now "test" shows up on all of my new invoices. I can manually delete it from each invoice but how can I remove it from even appearing? I spent 45 minutes on the phone with an expert last night and we couldn't figure it out. I've checked Custom Form Styles and anything else that looks like it could help. Clearly, I changed the form layout in some way but when I go to the master invoice form, it's not there, only when I click on "Create Invoice". Can anyone advise? It's a frustrating little thing but I don't want to have to manually remove it each time nor accidentally send it to a customer. Thanks in advance.

I've been having the same issue - Was there any resolution to this?  It's not cache related.

I understand how convenient the new invoice layout is, david_schott.

I've checked our records and there's no reported case where the invoice layout automatically switches to the old display after updating it. Since the recommended solutions are not working on your end, I recommend reaching out to our Technical Support Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate what's causing this issue. To reach them, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (?).
  3. Select either tab to get started:
  • Assistant: Get quick, personalized answers. Select a suggested option, or type a question or topic you need help with. If you decide you need further help, you can still Talk to a human.
  • Search: Search the QuickBooks Online knowledge base directly, or select Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support expert.
    • Get a callback from the next available expert.

For more details and support hours open this article: QuickBooks Online Support. Once it is resolved, you can switch back to the new experience. You can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the + New.
  2. Choose Invoice or Estimate.
  3. Once done, click Try the new invoices.

You can switch to either the old or the new experience at any time. QuickBooks saves all the info from your previous estimates and invoices to ensure that you don't lose your work. Also, when you change between the new and old experiences, the design shown to your customers will change.

Once everything is set, you might want to utilize this link for reference in seamlessly managing your receivables: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

Please bear with us as we're working to resolve this. In case you have any additional questions about invoices, you're always welcome to post them in your reply. I'll be here to answer them for you.

I understand the inconvenience you've faced, and your concerns are valid, christophers and david_schott. We will bring this issue to the attention of our management team to improve our customer service.

As per checking, I've found an ongoing investigation (INV-98694) about invoices and estimates that show a new layout and then revert to the old one automatically in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Rest assured that our engineers are working to fix the issue as soon as possible.

With this, I recommend contacting our support team for you to be added to the list of affected users and receive email updates.

Here's how:

  1. Log in to your QBO company.
  2. Select Help (?).
  3. Click Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:
  • Start a chat with a support expert.
  • Get a callback from the next available expert.

In addition, I've added this article in case you want to personalize and add specific info to your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QBO.

If you have further questions about the new update layout in QBO, please don't hesitate to reply to this thread the Community is here 24/7.

Why don't YOU add us to the list so I don't have to sit on hold with "premium support" to do this?

Why has it taken 4 months and there is STILL no solution? "Rest assured that our engineers are working to fix the issue as soon as possible." << I doubt it. It looks like some line manager somewhere has said "well, this won't make me look good at review time, so let's just ship half-baked product so I can get hopefully get a good rating."

Please send this comment to the engineering team. If the team wants to tell me I'm wrong, then let them do so, but I've worked in big tech and I know how it really works, and this isn't being worked at all, it's low-pri or wishlist on some intern's plate.

I've done the phone thing 2 or 3 times now.  The only thing you get are people who say "Rest assured that our engineers are working to fix the issue as soon as possible."

I'm kind of over it - it isn't worth wasting my time, but it sure leaves a bad taste in my mouth...

I'm actually working on a transition to NetSuite for both of the companies using QBO Advanced. I can't even get QBO to remove the signature line on POs... this isn't 1997.

Thanks for joining the thread, @christophers.

Customizing forms in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is only applicable in sales forms. We can't customize PO forms. If you want this feature to be added in QBO, I'd recommend sending feedback. This way, our Product Engineers might consider adding this feature in future updates.

Here's how:

  • Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback under Profile.
  • Enter your product comments and suggestions, then click Next to submit.

Also, you'll want to check this article I've added to learn how to personalize and add specific info to your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to go back to this thread for customizations of forms and any QBO matters. Keep safe.

My invoice layout will not update.

Finally found a thread that details the issues I started having. Talked on the phone with support and they added me to a list for their coding teams to work on. Looks like unfortunately this has been a problem for at least 8 months that has gone without being fixed. Very disappointing, these minor bugs that I see throughout the QBO interface makes me go crazy with how much I am paying. Wish I went with another software, I don't have the time to convert everything over to another platform.
