My quickbooks self-employed invoice description is not letting me type more than a few lines.

I hope you're doing well, robertajohnson88.

You can currently type as many lines in the message or description field when creating an invoice in QuickBooks Self-Employed. Since you're unable to do so from your end, we can do some troubleshooting steps. Doing this will help us determine if the issue is caused by your browser's cache.

To start, open your company in an incognito or private browser. This mode prevents your browsing history from being saved. You can use the keyboard shortcuts below:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

Next, sign in to your QuickBooks Self-Employed account and try to enter the lines in the description field. If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Please make sure to restart your browser afterwards.

Using a different supported browser is an alternate solution too.

You can also read this article to learn more about creating an invoice: Create invoices in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Please keep me updated with the results after trying out the troubleshooting steps. I'm here to help you out again. Thanks.

Hi there, robertajohnson88.

If you haven't tried it yet, you can uninstall and reinstall the QBSE mobile app. This refreshes the application that resolves some of the most common issues when performing a task in the program.

You can use these links in reinstalling the app:

Then, log back in and check if can add a few lines to the invoice's description. If the same error persists after all the updates, I recommend logging in through the web browser and contact support from there. Here's how:

  1. Tap the Assistant icon in the upper right to open the QB Assistant window.
  2. Scroll down to the Type something field and enter the issue or topic.
  3. If you’re using a mobile device, follow the steps in the Contact QuickBooks Self-Employed Support article.
