Open Payables Report showing Splits

I would like to have an open payables report that shows the splits allocated to each bill.

I can get the information in the Transaction List with Splits report but that report can't be filtered by open invoices.  The transaction list by Vendor report lets me filter by open bills but will not expand to splits.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can do so, @jmnykamp!

Let's pull up and customize your Transaction List by Date report to see all your unpaid invoices with split line items.

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Select Transactions List by Date.
  3. Click Customize.
  4. Under Filter, Transaction Type and A/P Paid.
  5. On the Transaction Type menu, select Bills.
  6. Below the A/P Paid menu, select Unpaid.
  7. Click Run report.

I'm adding a few references here for ideas about saving your report after customizing it.

Reach out to me if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Thank you for that suggestion, however that report does not show the split detail which is what I need.

Open Payables Report showing Splits

Hey there, @jmnykamp. Thanks for your prompt response.

The report outlined by my colleague above will show a Split column detailing the accounts. At the moment, if there are multiple accounts, it will show under that column as "- Split -". To see the details of the split itself, you'll need to click on that description. I see how this would be a useful feature to you and your business and to others, so I'll submit this idea to our Product Development Team for further review.

In the meantime, you can stay up-to-date on all things QuickBooks by keeping an eye out on our blog.

Thank you.

It's disappointing that such a report doesn't currently exist but hopefully it's something that will be fairly easy to implement.  If the ability to filter by A/P Paid were added to the Transaction List Detail with Splits report it would be perfect.

@jmnykamp

It's a great idea. That's what we're looking for a while now.

I have some steps that you can try, @jmnykamp.

You can pull up the Transaction Detail by Account report. Then, customize it to show transactions with splits and filter it to A/P Paid.

To do this, here's how:

  1. Go to Reports and search for Transaction Detail by Account.
  2. Click on Customize.
  3.  In the Rows/Columns section, select Transaction Type from the Group by drop-down arrow.
  4. Click on Change columns and mark to select the Account checkbox.
  5. Go to Filter and select Bill as the Transaction Type.
  6.  Choose Unpaid from the A/P Paid drop-down arrow.
  7. Click on Run Report

It's a great idea to save the report's customization settings. For more details, refer to this article: Memorize reports

You can leave a comment below if you have any other questions. I'm always here to help. Have a good day!

Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately, this report does not show the split detail.  The only report I can find that does show the split detail is the Transaction List with Splits which cannot be filter by AP Paid status.

I'm looking to do the same thing with showing split details in a method other than clicking on each 'Split' to see the detail.

Hello there, @rtjonespe

You can run the Transaction List with Splits report to show split transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports
  2. Type Transaction List with Splits in the search bar.
  3. Change the Report period.
  4. Click on Run report.

On the other hand, adding the splits in the Transaction Detail by Account report would be a great idea

You can check this article on how to Customize your reports in QuickBooks Online.

I'll be right here if you have more questions. Have a great day!

Is there an option like this for Quickbooks Desktop?

Thanks for joining this thread, JamieMarshall.

I want to make sure you're able to view transactions with splits in your QuickBooks Desktop account.

In this instance, I would recommend the Deposit Detail w Name report. This particular report will allow you to view deposit details for splits, including the name. You're also able to further narrow down the info by customizing the report or filtering it to show specific details.

The following article provides additional info about understanding reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Please don't hesitate to reach back out if you have any other questions. I'll be here to help.

Add an expand button like in Desktop.  I never want to see the word "Split" in a GL report.

Hi there, @AVLCPA.

We'd love to help you achieve your goal, but I need more information to help me get on the same page. Would you mind telling me more about it? Like, is the expand button you need in QuickBooks Desktop for your display preferences? Also, do you want to remove only the Split word in the General Ledger report, or do you want to remove the Split column?

This way, I can provide you with an accurate resolution.

I appreciate any details you can provide. I’m looking forward to your reply. Have a great rest of the day.
