Thanks for the response, @donmoss.
Yes, that does make sense. Once you followed my colleague's @IamjuViel steps, then you can open an Invoice to correct the number then hit Save. Once you've changed the Invoice Number, then it will go up from there. Here's a Community Article that explains this process more in detail with a video and steps: How to change the invoice number on sales forms.
If you need further assistance, please let me know! I'm just a Reply away.

Let me explain it better. The last regular number that was used was 02546. Now they are NGC001. I need the next number to be 02547 and go up from there? Not sure how this happened but I need it changed back.
Does that make sense?

This doesn't even exist.
Hello there, @angel4.
I read through the thread, and I want to confirm which question you're referring to that doesn't exist. May I ask for some additional details? This will help me provide you with the best resolution for your concern.
I'm looking forward to your response. Take care and have a good one.
I have QuickBooks Premier Plus Manufacturing and Wholesale 2023. The options are not available following your instructions. Is there another method in my version?
Hi I have QB Premier Plus Manufacturing and Wholesale 2023. The options in your instructions do not populate. Is there another way to turn off the auto-populating numbers in my version of QB?
Hi, Gee Pers.
I'm here to share more information about invoice numbers in QuickBooks Desktop.
The steps shared by my colleagues above are for QuickBooks Online. The said option is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop.
With QuickBooks Desktop, you'll have to manually modify the INVOICE #. Then, the system will continue the sequence number.
For example if your current invoice number is 501, and you'll want to start from 01, you'll have to modify it to 01. From there, the system will continue to invoice number 02, 03, and so on.
Also, if you want your customers to pay you directly from the invoices you send them, you can send online invoices. Here's an article as your guide: Send online invoices.
