I've had that problem since Thursday - no response or solution from QB yet.

This is already a reported issue, Smpelectricx2 and Mancinid.

Some of our users are unable to create any transactions on the Projects page. This can be the reason why it's not syncing to Tsheets.

While we're waiting for a fix to be rolled out, you can try to create an invoice/esimate outside the Projects page. Let's just ensure to select the customer's project, so it'll be linked to the correct one. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Invoice/Estimate.
  3. Fill in the necessary fields.
  4. Click Save and close.

I also suggest reaching out to our customer care support, so we'll know how many are affected by the issue. Here's how:

  1. Click Help inside QuickBooks Online.
  2. Select Contact us
  3. Enter "Error when creating an invoice on the project page" in the description field, then click Let's talk
  4. Select either Start messaging or Get a callback.

The chat line is open from Mondays to Saturdays from 4 am to 9 pm PST. Then, the phone support is open from Mondays to Fridays from 6 am to 5:30 pm PST.

If there's anything else that we can do for you, don't hesitate to drop a comment below.

I tried creating an estimate and invoice outside the projects tab but it wont show the project at all and my only option is to use the client name.

I had to create a dummy job “project not created” for TSheets so I could get timesheets done since I can’t select the correct job.

Hi, @gpl1

Once this issue will get resolved, you have to link your invoices to their respective projects. I’ll show you the steps to link your invoice to the project.

Here’s how to link an open invoice:

  1. Go to the Magnifying icon.
  2. Click the Open Invoice.
  3. In the Customer section, then select the Project you want to link.
  4. Click Save, once done.

Also, you need to contact the customer support team so that you’ll get notified about the updates on this issue. I’ll show you the steps to contact them.

Here’s how:

1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.

 2. Select Help (?) at the top right.

 3. Select Contact Us to connect with a live support agent.

Please see this article to guide you on your invoices: Set up and use the Projects feature.

I appreciate your patience while our engineers are working for the permanent fix. Take care.

Im confused, is no one reading my problem, these solutions are horrible. The project isn't showing up unless I go to the customer page. Searching the estimate, doesn't change the fact that when you open the estimate, you still can't select the project because it doesn't show up! I need areal solution and I need it soon, this is screwing me, your Intuit, is this a joke?

This issue has already been reported to our engineer for investigation, @smpelectricx2

We will send you an email as soon as the issue is resolved. I would recommend giving us a short call for us to add you to the list of affected users and receive notifications.

Here's how to reach out to them:

  1. Click the Help menu in the upper-right hand corner of QBO.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Inform them that you're getting the "Error on Project page", then click Let's talk
  4. Select Get a callback to reach out to one of our phone agents.

You can also select the Start Messaging option in case you want to reach out to our chat support.

The chat line is open from Mondays to Saturdays from 4 am to 9 pm PST. Then, the phone support is open from Mondays to Fridays from 6 am to 5:30 pm PST.

We appreciate your patience while our engineers are trying to sort this one out.

I sympathize.  It has made it impossible to pay vendors which is not making anyone happy.  If I have to enter vendor bills to the wrong job then I need to duplicate my efforts when I can go back and change everything once Intuit fixes the problem.  Perhaps, coincidently, Intuit moved the + sign to the left side about the same time.  Maybe if they move it back to the top right it will fix all the problems that QBO is having including - not matching checks on bank feeds and new projects not working at all.

Hello TBooks, I appreciate you for sharing your insights here.

If you haven't contacted us, you can follow the steps provided by my colleague above. This helps our developers to gather more information and come up with a permanent fix.

Meanwhile, you can follow the workaround provided by my colleague Kristine Mae.

I'll keep an eye on this issue. I'm just here if you have other questions.

Projects isn't working for anything I create starting yesterday. I can't create estimates or invoices for projects and they aren't syncing to Tsheets?

I contacted QB through Help, I got the run around, after telling them about the problem, the way I was informed above, they gave me the run around, delete cache, delete this, stand on your head, I had to ask "aren't you supposed to know this is a problem?" Never got the email about our discussion or an update either after I spoke with the person. Is this problem only happening to a few users or is it widespread? I'd like to know because if it's just a few I can assume it wont be taken care of soon. It's not like I need this to run my business or anything...Oh and the wasted emails about getting badges for how many views, or how many comments were read, or whatever is a giant waste of time, and more time should be spent on the actual product and less time on the fluff.

I appreciate you getting back to us, @gpl1.

I'm glad to let you know that this issue is already closed. And to get you back to working order, let's edit the project name so you can add a transaction successfully.

  1. From the left panel, click Projects.
  2. Find and select the project.
  3. Click the Edit button.
  4. Edit the project name to make changes. (For example, if the project's name is Gardening, you can add Project after Gardening.)
  5. Click Save.

In case you want to learn more about the project feature, you can read these articles for more information:

Just hit the Reply button if you have additional questions. I'll be right here to help.

Projects isn't working for anything I create starting yesterday. I can't create estimates or invoices for projects and they aren't syncing to Tsheets?

I still have this problem and it's August 2020. I can create a new Project but can't select that new Project if trying to enter an Estimate/Invoice for that Project (or try to assign that Project to Bills). I have to EXIT QBO and re-enter. After that I can select the Project. It's like QBO doesn't recognize a new Project is created until the next time you sign in. It's been like this since I started using QBO last July. Are your newly added Projects selectable after signing out and back in? Or can you literally never select the Project no matter how long ago it was created?

Projects isn't working for anything I create starting yesterday. I can't create estimates or invoices for projects and they aren't syncing to Tsheets?

It's now 2023 - 4-years later and the same issue.  Most of the new projects I enter do not sync with Workforce, so I cannot enter payroll.  I have to do payroll under a "dummy" project so that i can get it completed, then will have to move everything at a later date when the project finally sync's.

Instead of giving us a number to call, WHY can't the fix be posted online??

Projects isn't working for anything I create starting yesterday. I can't create estimates or invoices for projects and they aren't syncing to Tsheets?

We appreciate you for replying in this thread, @JC138. What you're feeling right is valid. On top of that, we recognize your effort in finding a way to sync your project in Workforce. This time, let me share some insights into the common sync issues of Workforce and how we'll fix them.

Upon checking on my end, there's no existing issue about projects not syncing to Workforce. However, below are the common sync issues in Workforce.

These are the common sync issues:

  • Battery save mode, battery optimization mode (Android), or airplane mode is on.
    • Check the specific instructions from your Android device’s support page to turn off battery optimization for the app.
  • The App was forced closed (while clocked in, the app should be open in the background).
  • Restrict background data is on (Android) or background app refresh is off (iOS).
  • You’re signed out of the app.
  • The app or the device operating system is out of date.
  • You’re clocked in on a computer or kiosk (you can only be clocked in on 1 device).
  • No data or Wi-Fi signal.
  • The device is off or the battery died.
  • You’re in a location with satellite interference.
  • Your device is damaged.

To fix this, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Ensure that the device settings are correct.
  2. Review if there other listed issues apply to you.
  3. To validate if your Workforce app is syncing properly now, you can force a sync.
    - Go to More.
    - Choose Settings.
    - Then, Help & Support.
    - Select Sync data.
  4. If the issue persists, continue troubleshooting sync by clicking this article: Troubleshoot QuickBooks Workforce (formerly QuickBooks Time mobile app).

However, after performing the troubleshooting steps, the project doesn't sync, I recommend contacting Workforce Live Support to help you dig deeper into the possible cause of the issue.
