After a few hours of trying to figure out why everything worked before we upgraded our Community Center's computer, I read the responses and decided to boot up our old computer and copy over the QB_Taxform_Link file from our old computer, and replace the one in our QB Desktop 2021 template folder. And it worked! Thanks so much for the suggestion! It saved me HOURS of manual calculations. :)
I'm poking this thread again because the problem still exists - the .xlt file is still the ancient version, so I am dead in the water for generating tax forms for 2022. I've tried with both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Office, so that's no longer a fix. Does anyone happen to have a version of QB_Taxform.xlt that works with Quickbooks Desktop 2022?
Hi, bsobelman.
We're hearing complaints that this problem affects other users as well. We want to let you know that our engineering team has already received a report about this.
This is currently being prioritized and examined. We do not currently have an estimated time of arrival (ETA) for resolution, despite the fact that this is being actively looked at. Rest assured that this is being worked on.
As soon as they do, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Support. Our engineers will be able to tie your case to the ongoing investigation and add the details of your account to the list of people that are affected as a result. Any developments will be reported via email.

Please be patient as we work on the long-term solution. If you have any additional questions, don't be afraid to leave me a reply. Have a great day.
Any chance you resolved this? I moved to a new computer and have QB desktop 2021 and cannot run tax form worksheets to excel and receive the same error message (Could not connect) you did.
To my knowledge QB never resolved this relatively minor (from a programming perspective) issue. In my case, I made the decision to revert back and continue using QB2012 - that is right, a 13 year old release - because Intuit does not support its desktop products even when they are defectively programmed.
