Showing results for
Starting balance, ending balance, transactions and payments are all correct as well as the number deposit and payments - but the cleared balance is showing as negative. If it were positive, the difference would be zero. How is this possible?

If your bank statement shows a beginning balance of $16,661.16, $22,624.01 in payments/withdrawals, and $5,520.17 in deposits, then it too must show an ending balance of -$442.68. It's just simple arithmetic:
$16,661.16
-$22,624.01
+$5,520.17
= -$442.68
What are the amounts on your bank statement?
Good morning, @h1landr.
Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community.
To clarify, have you checked for any duplicate transactions that could be throwing off the balance? If not, here's how you can:
Important: Only delete transactions if you're absolutely certain they're a duplicate or error. If you aren't totally sure, please talk to your bookkeeper. If you don't have an accounting professional, don't sweat it. You can find one here in our Resource Center.
If duplicates aren't your issue, I highly recommend checking our help guide: Fix issues at the end of a reconciliation in QuickBooks Online to see if you may have an underlying problem in another way.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. Have a good one!

I have just fixed duplicates and gone through the suggestions to fix issues at the end of reconciliation. Neither has changed the negative cleared balance. What else can I do?
You are correct! Yet my bank statement says the ending balance is positive. I will double check with my bank, maybe they are in error on my statement.
That was it! Thank you, God bless.
Nowhere do I see "BOOKKEEPING"
Thank you for joining this conversation and sharing your concerns, DD214-1. I understand you've noticed changes to the Bookkeeping option, and I’m here to address your questions. Let’s review the details together to help you navigate the latest changes in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
The Bookkeeping menu, previously used to access All Sales or Expenses, has been replaced in the current version of QuickBooks Online. You can now find this functionality under the Transactions section. Additionally, the All Sales and Expenses menus have been separated and are now accessible from the left panel of your QBO interface.
I've attached a visual guide that illustrates these changes. This should help you locate the features you need in the updated interface:
Regarding the Bookkeeping steps my colleague recommended for identifying duplicate transactions impacting your balance, you can efficiently perform this through the reconciliation page. Here's how:
Furthermore, refer to this article on what to do if you encounter discrepancies where your bank or credit card company has processed a transaction for an amount different from what you recorded: Fix mistakes on your bank or credit card statement.
I hope this information clarifies the recent changes in QBO and helps you navigate the platform more efficiently, DD214-1. If you have any further questions about these updates or encounter any challenges while using the new interface, please feel free to reach out. We're committed to making your QuickBooks experience as smooth and productive as possible.
@RheaMaeH Out of curiosity, when exactly was the patch that replaced the Bookkeeping menu?
Thanks for getting involved with this thread, FishingForAnswers.
The update which changed Bookkeeping to Transactions in your left navigation bar appears to have taken place in mid-2024.
You'll be able to find detailed information about recent updates on our Product Updates webpage.
Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
