Hi there, @nwcpa.
I can provide some details about retaking the ProAdvisor Certification examination.
When retaking the ProAdvisor Certification examination you'll need to take all parts of the exam. Once you begin the exam, you must finish it in one sitting. You cannot stop and resume at a later time.
We also offer certification training so the examines can prepare for the exam. To learn more about the training process, please check out this link: Training & Certification.
Also, here are some articles that you can check out about the exam guide and QuickBooks Online Advanced Certification FAQs for your reference:
These resources should help you pass the ProAdvisor Certification exam.
Keep me posted if there's anything else you need. I'll be around to help you out. Have a great day!
The guide does not seem to apply to the QBO advanced certification test. There are 10 sections not 5. Also, there are typos in the questions. There are questions duplicated within a section so if you get it wrong, you get it wrong twice. Also, I researched answers and still did not pass the 2 sections that I could not pass. It would be great to see what was done wrong in order to learn from the mistakes that were made.
Thank you for sharing what you've experienced, russomj19.
We don't want you to feel this way. It's a good suggestion to have a type of review on the answers you got wrong.
I recommend contacting our ProAdvisor Support. You can include screenshots of the questions where you found typos and duplicates. This will help us identify what to correct on the Advanced certification test.

Thanks for the quick response although my main question was not answered. Also, I see no way to go back and get screen shots of questions from the exam. Typos seem to be a regular thing in the training, as well as, the exam. Asking the same question twice and also not being able to choose more than one answer when the question requires it is just unacceptable.
Hello there, russomj19,
It seems that the one provided as an exam guide is only for QuickBooks Online Certification. That's why it only has five sections instead of ten. You can open the link I've provided about the simplified re-certification path, and check the guide for Advanced Certification.
If you happen to take the test again, I recommend taking screenshots so you can share them to our ProAdvisor support. This will greatly help us improve the accuracy of the test.
We're rooting for your success in the certification test.
Hi u said we need to take the exam in one sitting . I’m doing online certified. Is there a time limit?
Hey, Ebie.
There is a 2 hour time limit on the exam. You can make up to three attempts to pass the whole exam.
If you do not pass in the first three attempts, you are locked out for 60 days. When the 60 days are up, you can take the certification exam again.
Don't worry, you got this!
If you need any other help, let us know.
Frankly I agree with Russo. I found questions (or answers) that could be taken more than one way and typos leading to ambiguity. I have taken the Advance test all 3 times. I have passed all sections but one and now I am locked out. I have been through the self paced training more than once AND bootcamp. When taking the test, I have the supplemental guide open as reference to ensure I have all of the answers and still I fail based on ambiguity. To have to take this test in its entirety over again in 60 days fills me with anger. If I was not a good test taker or considered myself stupid, maybe I would be more accepting of the result but I am neither. I am over it!! So much for being Advance Certified. I have better things to do with my time than try to pass this test. My client need present more than I need to be Advance Certified. Pity!
I am in a very similar situation. However, many years ago I obtained my Desktop certification and updated to QBOA and am willing to try again in 60 days. My question is how many attempts are we allowed after the 60 days, and is it similar to the previous test such as retaking only the failed sections?
Once the 60 day time limit is lifted and I retake the exam do I have 3 more attempts? Also, if there are more attempts would i be allowed to then retake the sections failed like the original test?
Hi there, @Bean Counter.
Welcome to the Community space. I'll be here to help you clear up some of your concerns. Once 60 days time limit is lifted, you have 3 attempts to pass the whole exam and will be given you 2 hours time limit to pass it. When retaking the ProAdvisor Certification examination, you'll need to take all parts of the exam, not just the failed sections.
I have handy articles for your guidelines:
Good-luck. We're rooting for your success in the certification exam.
I’ve had the same issue. I am not sure why we would have to waste one of our exam attempts to screen shot information to send to support. I would think as many times as it has been brought attention to that support would go in and review the exam. The same generic answer given on here is not helping anyone!
My experience was the same as Russo and cathouse. I researched my answers very carefully and could not pass two sections because of ambiguity or material not covered in trainings. Are they resorting to trick questions to keep the pass rate low? I invested way too much time in this certification and am now back at square one. I won’t be trying again. Very disappointed in QB.
Count me in as another dissatisfied QB user. I carefully researched the questions that I couldn't answer and found documented evidence to the contrary(specifically the Reports Only user question} for some. Unfortunately I didn't do screen shots-mistake on my part. Additionally the Vendor Workflow I found in the forum and still failed. Some questions weren't included in the modules. Now how are we expected to pass this "certification exam" when we don't know(using an excerpt from the section 1 module for adding a new client) the Who,What, How and When to even attempt it? I passed all but section 3 and missed 3 questions(supposedly). This was a complete WASTE of my time and I will not try again!! Shame on you Intuit!! I've used your products for years now. Really wish someone else would develope another small business software as good as QBO.
One question for you moderators-"Have you passed this exam?" "How many attempts did you make?" I apologize that was 2 questions.
I keep failing same section, its beyond frustration.can they atleast show the correct answers. Such a insult to someone who has been working long in this
Why is the wait 60 days? How was this decided? What benefit is it to make someone wait 60 days? The certification seems to be geared toward using the software, so why isn't the information readily searchable? If we are expected to know everything in our daily interactions with the software as an accountant or bookkeeper, then why is there help and search functions in the software? There are questions requiring answers that aren't covered or available in the training modules that are attached to the exam section. What elitist mentality is behind this certification that doesn't let you know what questions you missed? More than likely the same questions are being missed and the individual will never learn from the experience. To be more direct to some of the moderators - the audacity of someone to suggest that exam takers take screen shots and document the errors then email support is absolutely preposterous. Quickbooks is a billion dollar a year company. Do your own due diligence and update your training modules as the software updates instead of the trite "Pro Tip" telling us our experience may differ from what we see in the lesson.
Same here. I have now taken section 3 4 times and have not passed it. I keep going over the material time and time again to no avail. It's definitley a time suck and very frustrating.
who can we talk too about changing the rules to have it unlimited tries and not have to wait 60 day’s to pass it.
Hi there, Nj15.
Thank you for dropping by in the QuickBooks Community. I'll make sure your concern with passing the QuickBooks Online Certification is addressed.
Giving you the best experience with completing the QuickBooks Certification is what we aim for. Our goal is to boost your confidence, establish your expertise, and help you earn your client's trust.
To become a certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor, you should pass the exam of at least 80 percent in each section. As mentioned above, you only have three attempts to pass the exams. If you fail to do so, you can wait for another 60 days before you can retake the exam. That said, changing the rules to take the exam for unlimited tries and haven't wait for 60 days is currently unavailable.
However, we have a dedicated team that is working on monitoring and handling QuickBooks Accountant customers. They have tools to check your certifications and can share some insights on how to pass the examination. Here's how to contact them: How to contact QuickBooks Online Accountant support?.
Please refer to this article to view details on how you can get your current and past certifications and badges: Download ProAdvisor certifications and badges.
