Sales Receipts do not match with Inventory Valuation Detail Report

We have idenfitied instances where the Quantity Sold on the Sale Receipts in Quickbooks are not reflected as quantity out in the Inventory Valuation Detail Report (IVD). However, the total COGS on our PnL is the same as the total COGS on the IVD. This means that our COGS is understated by the cost of the missing quantity in IVD which is very alarming for us.

Sales Receipts do not match with Inventory Valuation Detail Report

Hi wajihshafiq,

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. Let's check to see why the quantities on your reports aren't matching.

One of the reasons why there's a mismatch in the number of quantities on the reports you mentioned is the period covered. You'll want to match the date range on both reports. Aside from that, you can also switch the Accounting method in your PnL to Accrual.

If you still get the same thing, please do the basic browser troubleshooting steps. That way, we can check if this behavior is caused by random browser issues.

You can start by signing in to your QBO company using a private window. This step will disable the extensions and stops the cache from saving your search history.

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N.
  • MS Edge and Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P.

If private browsing shows fixes the quantities, you can clear your browser's cache. If not, please use a different browser to see if this only happens to the one you are using.

Feel free to post back if you need further assistance. We're just around to help.

Sales Receipts do not match with Inventory Valuation Detail Report

Hi JessT,

Thank you for your reply. I have tried all the steps you have suggested however the issue still remains. I'm attaching with this message.

I have a Sales Receipt J-221101-7 where quantity sold for one product is 23 units. On the Sales by Product/Service Summary report, the same Sales Receipt J-221101-7 for the same product shows quantity sold as 23 units. However, on the Inventory Valuation Detail report for the Sales Receipt J-221101-7 for the same product the quantity sold is 15 units. Please help me figure out why this is the case. Thank you!
