Hi,
I would like some help in printing reports for an item that has multiple serial numbers. When I print the reports the serial numbers get cut off if there are too many serial numbers. How can I print a report that shows all of the serial numbers in stock by site?
Thanks,
Good day, Mitzy.
I'm here to help you print your reports.
To ensure that all of the serial numbers will be printed, we'll have to stretch the Serial Number column before printing the report. I'll show you how:

Hi,
I have done that but some of the items have a lot of serial numbers. I can't stretch it far enough to include those serial numbers. Is there a solution for these types of situations?
Thanks,
Mitzy
I have another way so you can print your report with the complete serial number, Mitzy Tompkins.
You can try holding down the option key when you choose the Print menu. Keep holding the option key down as you click on the print buttons that come up in dialogs. The option key clears some internal print settings. I've attached a screenshot for your visual guide:
However, if the serial number still cuts off, you'll want to export the report in Excel. From there, you'll be able to print the report with the complete serial number.
QuickBooks opens Excel workbooks with the default application you set. Here’s how to change it.
You can set your report preferences to change the file type that QuickBooks exports (.sylk or .xlsx). You'll also want to browse these help articles for more references.

Hi,
This doesn't help me much. I have Quickbooks Desktop. The Desktop doesn't have Excel, therefore I cannot open the report within Quickbooks. I can download and email it to myself. I can't do much to the report within the Quickbooks desktop.
Thanks

Thanks for following up with us. I appreciate all the details you've provided concerning your issue.
Since the suggestions above aren't working for you, I've personally submitted a feedback request on your behalf to our product engineering team. This way, it can be considered in a future update. I've submitted a request for better options to show the serial numbers in Inventory reports when printing.

I just wanted to add to this conversation that this report is vital in accomplishing year end inventory counting and yet this report is so unnecessarily difficult. Even when exporting to excel it is made extremely difficult bc of how qb reports print out of excel. We have many serial numbers and each one has to be accounted for during inventory and it is impossible to create an efficient report. It's very disappointing that something like this causes so much frustration for your users. Our report is 8 pages long for one of our sites and we have to print the 8 pages then match up page one with page 4 and page 2 with page 5 and so on and pray that you can figure it out. It's literally a disaster and makes counting inventory on serialized equipment take so much longer than it should.
hryoung95, Were you able to finally figure this out, or find a program that would work the way you needed it to?
I am currently in need of such.
Yes, You need to pay for the Excel app in Right Networks. Once you have Excel connected to QuickBooks you can download reports with all serial numbers.
