Since the update, when we send an estimate the email says invoice and balance due. Is this an internal adjustment that needs to be made?

The link does take you to a page to approve the estimate but it is not clear whether it is an estimate or an invoice.  And since the email says invoice the whole thing is confusing

It's a known bug. One of many (hundreds?) with the new 'improved' invoices.

I'm here to provide some insights when sending estimates as to why it shows invoice in QuickBooks Online, @carterlandservic.

As per checking, I've found an ongoing investigation (INV-100722) regarding the issue when attempting to send an estimate, but the email states about invoice and balance due.

Please know that our engineers are working to fix the issue as soon as possible.

With this, I recommend contacting our support team so you'll be added to the list of affected users and receive email updates.

Here's how:

  1. On your QuickBooks Online, click on Help (?).
  2. Click either tab to get started: Assistant or Talk to Human.
  3. Search Contact Us,  then Start a chat with a support expert.

To ensure your concerns are addressed promptly, they're available M-F 6 AM to 6 PM PT for Plus, Essentials, and Simple Start QBO versions, and Saturday 6 AM to 3 PM PT Advanced, any time, any day.

You can check these out to learn how you can convert, and customize your estimates and to receive payments for future reference:

It's clearly a bug, not an "investigation". Just admit it.

Knowing the schedule does not ensure in any way that "concerns" will be "addressed promptly".  Do you actually believe the statements you copy/paste?

I am having the same issue. Now I have to send estimates from my email instead of from Quickbooks which is more time consuming. It seems like with every update with Quickbooks, everything gets worse not better.

Y'ALL THIS IS FRUSTRATING!  But I found a stupid workaround that I may or may not try.  I made an email template so I can send an email to a potential new client with ESTIMATE VERBIAGE.  Then instead of doing 'Send Estimate' within QB's estimate I want to send/email, I select 'Share Estimate Link', and then 'Copy'.  THEN...(more stupid extra steps...thanks, QB), I go to my email, select my template, click on 'send again', and paste the estimate link into the email.  I tested it and it works, but it's still stupid to have to do it.  We currently use the Joist app for estimating because QB has made it so dang complicated. We REALLY want to try to migrate 100% to QB for estimates, payments, etc., but the estimate templates aren't visually appealing and OMG for the love of Jesus, LISTEN UP QB DEVELOPERS...WE DON'T WANT OUR CUSTOMERS OPENING AN EMAIL FROM US, EXPECTING AN ESTIMATE, but INSTEAD BEING WELCOMED TO OUR BUSINESS WITH A "VIEW INVOICE" GREETING.  In what world does that make sense?  When you ask for an estimate from literally ANYONE....don't you expect the email to say, "Here's your Estimate"?  NOT, "hey brand new person - here's an invoice for sh*t we haven't done yet"????  Who is employed at QB that made even it through the brainstorming meeting with this completely effed up idea???  Worse, WHO at QB is responsible for fixing this BUT WON'T DO IT???

About to bail,

Pissed off QB subscriber

I can't believe after a year this hasn't been fixed yet. I have to send a separate email when it used to be so fast to send the estimate right out of Quickbooks.

I understand your frustration, @Hazel2019. Rest assured that we are working on this issue to resolve it as soon as possible.

One of the possible reasons why it's showing an invoice instead of estimates is that you might have chosen the Plain text option in the Online delivery settings. Let's double-check and do this work-around.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under the Your Company column, choose Account and Settings.
  3. Click Sales, then select Online Delivery.
  4. In the Online Delivery section, click the dropdown menu and choose Online Invoice.

Now, you can create an estimate to see if this adjustment resolves the issue.

Furthermore, you may want to customize your invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Let us know if the issue persists with your estimates. The Community and I is here to help you!

I don't want online delivery for my invoices though. I send invoices as PDF attachment. I didn't have online delivery before and never had this issue until the Quickbooks update.
