And yet another tone deaf reply. And you wonder why people hate intuit.
What kind of business do you run? Do you prefer to use a 3rd party app with SO feature to integrate with your QBO or switch completely to another cloud based accounting app with the SO feature?
What people want is an app that will running most of the everything they need. Zoho looks pretty good and has a lot of features, but they too lack in some needed things, like payroll. QuickBooks is good , but not great. they issues I see with QuickBooks are fixable. The main problem is they are too busy on the way it looks or added new services that most do not want or need, instead of working on the issues that their customers are having. I have been the phone and on chat for hours trying to get different issues fixed, but all I get is "you should click on the gear icon and send a feedback." most of the time I get dropped or they say I have to talk to a different department. Intuit could become the best app out there, if they would just listen to their customers.
Even trying to reply to this thread I have to use a different browser then Chrome
Oh, and it's been a couple years, and still no Sales Orders. Quickbooks Online is literally the worst accounting software one can buy into. And here we are stuck with it....
I have companies that won't accept anything but a sales order. This needs to be addressed immediately.
Hello there, @Bj94. Welcome to the Community.
Let's send feedback or product recommendations to help improve the features and your experience using QuickBooks Online (QBO).
For the time being, the option to create sales orders is still unavailable in QBO. However, you can enter an estimate and convert it into an invoice or copy it to a purchase order. Then, you may also want to integrate a third-party application that can do it for you.
On the other hand, I can see how the benefit of being able to create sales orders would aid you in managing your business's transactions with QBO. With this, I would encourage you to send suggestions or product recommendations. We'll take them as opportunities to improve the various features of our products.
Your valuable feedback will be forwarded and reviewed by our Product Development team and will help improve your experience while using the program. Here's how:
Also, you may want to check out this article as your reference to guide you in pulling up customer or vendor reports to see all their payments and compare your income and expenses in QBO: Common custom reports in QuickBooks Online.
On top of that, I'd also recommend visiting this page to keep you updated with the latest software improvements and enhancements with QBO: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.
Let me know if you have other feature concerns or questions about managing income and sales transactions in QBO. I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @Bj94.
How do I view all my bills
How do I view all my bills
Hello there, @Tara Barker.
Let me help you view your bills in QuickBooks Online. Here's how:
Another way to view bills is to run the Vendor Balance Detail report to see the unpaid bills and the total amount owed to each vendor. Go to the Reports menu and type Vendor Balance Detail in the search bar to access the report.
Feel free to read this article as reference if you need to track bills and record the payments: Enter and manage bills and bill payments in QuickBooks Online.

Estimates are more a problem than a solution. Estimates do not reserve inventory which is absolutely VITAL. Can't believe I can read comments going back YEARS and you still have not implemented Sales Orders for the online product - especially when you had it in the desktop commerce version (which worked well).
And it is now 2023 and they still have no Sales Orders. I am moving now from desktop to online and I just looked up where the SO's went. I"m amazed at how many things are missing in the online version of QB.
I understand how useful it is to have the Sales Order feature in QuickBooks Online, @jenb4.
While it's unavailable, I encourage providing us feedback about it. Your helpful suggestions will be shared with our product engineers to help them enhance your QBO experience. Here's how to send feedback inside your QBO company:
Feel free to keep track of feature request updates through our webpage: QuickBooks Online Feature Requests.
Alternatively, you can browse this article about adding estimates in QBO: Create and send estimates in QuickBooks Online.

Can someone please reply with some system platforms that they have since switched to from QBO that have addressed this issue, but has kept the good features that QB has to offer? I see ZOHO mentioned a few times, are there any others?
We use SOS Inventory and I've been pretty happy with it. I still wish QB Online would implement Sales order to Invoice flow so I would haven't to pay and added cost.
They have been giving the same responses for over two years. You would think that with all of
the IT personnel that were released by Elon, there should be plenty of talent to figure this out.
It’s very clear, Quickbooks has no plan on reinvesting to improve the product. I receive P.O.’s
every day from my customers and have to manually enter them into the system. Quickbooks seems
to think that everything is cookie cutter and starts with an estimate. Not so…. Most of my purchase
orders from my clients change daily from the previous order.
We recently were forced to move from Desktop to Online and now have lost the ability to do a Sales Order. Telling us to look at a third party app solution in QBO to replace a functionality that was available in Desktop for years is unacceptable. This not only impacts basic inventory functionality, it also eliminates the ability to print a Packing Slip prior to generating an Invoice. How can a software company the advertises its abilities remove 2 critical pieces of functionality in an Online release??? You would think that after so many years of comments from the user community asking for this to be available again, Intuit would prioritize the change and move forward with the development.
If you refused to use a 3rd party app to integrate with QBO, you should switch back to QB Desktop and buy a new license for QB Desktop 2023 if required.
You can't always use the desk top. We operate with Mac computer's and the Desktop is not compatible. We had to move to Online. Which now we also have to pay for a 3rd party app to maintain proper inventory.
It is hard to imagine not having a sales order included in an accounting system. We are a service company that uses the sales (service) order to provide technicians with information regarding where to travel, what to do, who to meet, what materials to bring, what tools will be needed and a textual description of work to be performed. There is also a place for technicians to write in what was actually done and how much time and how many of each part were used on the ticket. Please consider completing the software package that we need. Until then we will go back to our desktop version, seeking an alternative solution by the end of this year for a long term solution.
Hello there, RWalston. Let's send feedback or product recommendations to help improve the features and your experience using QuickBooks Online (QBO).

As an alternative, you can enter an estimate and convert it into an invoice or copy it to a purchase order. Then, you may also want to integrate a third-party application that can do it for you.
Additionally, you can run and customize your reports to focus on the different aspects of your business. Then, modify common custom ones to fit your specific needs.
We'll always be here if you need further assistance managing sales transactions in QuickBooks. Drop your comments below, and we'll ensure to help you out.
You may have 3 options:
1. QB Online + a 3rd party app (e.g field service app)
2. QB Desktop Premier Plus/Enterprise
3. Another cloud based accounting app with Sales Order feature. One app costs $20/month
Hello. Do you know if there is any adding of ability to create sales orders on Online version yet?
As of now, it's not possible to create a sales order in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @BeaZ. Thus, we can send feedback to help enhance your experience.
I can see the importance of incorporating this feature into QBO, as this can make your recording workflow seamless. For the time being, we don't have the exact timeframe for when this feature will be added to the program.
For now, let's submit a product request to our engineering team so they may include this in future updates. You can follow these steps on how to send one.
Additionally, you can use the workaround provided by my colleague, @Rea_M. You do this by creating an estimate and converting it into an invoice or duplicating it as a purchase order. Otherwise, you may utilize a third-party app that can perform this task for you.
You can consider checking this website since it contains resources that will help you if you encounter any difficulty in QuickBooks: Self-Help Article.
I'm always in this forum if you have further questions about adding the sales order ability in QBO. I'll be on the lookout if you have one.
