The new forced on Me sales Tax program doesn't work for me at all, I auto bill my customers monthly, My office is in a different taxing location but it charges for too

Hello, @david129.

Let me share some insights about using automated sales tax in QuickBooks Online.

QuickBooks automatically calculates the total tax rate for each sale based on where you sell and where you ship the item. You'll have to fix the billing and shipping address of your customer for the sales tax to be applied based on the customer's state, otherwise, you'll have to overwrite the sales tax from the invoice one by one.

Here's how to review your customer's address:

  1. From the left menu, select Sales, then Customers.
  2. Select the Customer you need to update the information of.
  3. Make sure you have the customer's correct tax status, billing address, and shipping address.
  4. Update the info if needed by clicking the Edit option.

This isn't the impression that I'd like you to have, david129.

QuickBooks automatically calculates the total tax rate for each sale based on your customer’s tax exempt status, the address where you sell and where you ship, and the type of product that you sell. You'll want to get in touch with our technical support. This way, we'll be able to pull up your account in a secure session and switch your automated sales tax to the manual one.

Here's how to get in touch with us:

  1. Click the Help icon.

I have a workaround that you may want to consider, david129.

We can export and convert your QuickBooks Online data into QuickBooks Desktop. Then, import them again. This way, you'll be prompted to use the old sales tax.

We can use a sample file of QuickBooks Desktop so we can successfully perform the conversion.

You can use this article for the detailed steps to export the data: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.

Once converted, you're good to import the data into QuickBooks Online. From there, you'll have the option to select the old sales tax interface.

I've also added these articles that talk about the Sales Tax Center:

Feel free to get back to me if you have other concerns with your sales tax. Stay safe!
