quickbooks have closed my merchant account as the primary account holder has left the business.
we are now using another merchant provider
i need to export my customers and card details to upload to my new providers system
how can this be done
Hi accounts,
For security reasons, QuickBooks cannot export the full credit card information of your customers. We can only export the customer details with the last four (4) digits of their credit card information. I suggest contacting your customers to get their updated credit card information.
Here's how to pull up the customers list with the last four (4) digits of their credit card information:
To avoid further hassle in the future, you can create a separate list of your customers with their full credit card information outside QuickBooks Online.
If there's anything else I can help you with, please don't hesitate to leave a comment below. Thanks.
A horrible and dangerous solution!!!

Hello tod,
We acknowledge your opinion about the content of the Customer Contact List report. I also believe that being able to export the full credit card information from QuickBooks Online would help many customers.
We are constantly looking for input and feedback from our users on how we're doing and ways we could do even better. I'm hoping you'd also take a few minutes to share your thoughts. Doing so would be a great help to us in making sure we are providing you the best experience possible. Please follow the steps and screenshot above on how to send a feedback.
Thanks for letting us know your experience. I'm always here to help if you have other questions about QBO. Have a great day.
Other services such as Authorize.net allow you to extract your customers and all of their data including Credit Card information and securely encrypt them so that they can be uploaded to other Merchants. When a QB customer has hundreds if not thousands and customers by locking down the information you hold us hostage to your Merchant system.
This is true and why PCI certification exists. It is up to the company who owns the information (which isn't Intuit) to comply with regulatory standards around credit cards. Who gets sued if there is a breach on Quickbooks Desktop? It isn't Intuit, and I'm also fairly certain there are indemnity clauses in the service contract(s) surrounding this.
This is an attempt to hold data hostage under the guise of security.
Hello there, @rumblesnort.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us regarding the security measures implemented for credit card information. Allow me to chime in and clear this out for you.
QuickBooks acts as a portal with Merchant Services, thus we assure you that we comply with the PCI DSS standard. If you encounter any credit card information issue, you can always reach out to us so we can investigate.

Do I understand correctly that Quickbooks online will not keep on file the complete credit card information? We currently use Desktop which will maintain the complete number. Wow, if this is a fact, what a nightmare this will be when we go over to online. When running numerous cards each day you can't possibly expect Intuit users to reach out each and every time to a customer to get their card number again and again. They will be furious just for the inconvenience. Please tell me I have misundestood.
This is very shocking that you think it is a good idea to maintain credit card numbers separately.

I'll share some insights about the customer's credit card information in QuickBooks.
The security of your account and customer's credit card information is our top priorities. QuickBooks Online saves the complete credit card information, however, it is encrypted and we can only view the last four digits.
I'll definitely pass along your experience. Our engineers make improvements in QuickBooks Online by listening to our customers' suggestions and comments.
Thanks a lot for raising this concern. I'd appreciate if you can update me on how it goes. I'll be here if there's anything else you need. I'm cheering you to continued prosperity.
QB - So has anything progressed on this? I want to export my customers' credit card numbers and exp dates, WHICH I CAN TOTALLY SEE ON THE SCREEN, to an encrypted file, from QB DESKTOP, because I am implementing a new wine club software.
Thanks for joining the thread, @swimgirl.
The option to export customer credit card information is still currently unavailable for both Online and Desktop products. As a workaround, you can copy the details and paste it to a Word document or Excel file. From there, import the data to your new wine club software.
Let me also send follow-up feedback to our engineers to consider this in future product enhancements. A suggestion like this helps us determine what enhancements and improvements are needed to make our product more effective and convenient to use.
In the meantime, you can check out the newest features of QuickBooks Desktop by following these steps:
Please let me know if you have any other concerns. I'm always here for you. Take care!

I'm having the same issue, I am also PCI certified compliant so why can't I get the data back. I entrusted it to you and now I need it again. There has to be a way. Other companies can do it?
Hi, stream-it.
We have implemented streamlined bank-level security in protecting your information, making sure that your information is yours alone. If you need to get your data back, I'd suggest getting in touch with our Merchant Service Center.
Agents have the necessary tools to look into your account in a secure environment and provide all the data you need.

Let me know how the call goes, as I want to make sure this is taken care of. I'm also here if you need further help with anything in QuickBooks. Have a nice day!
Hello, I recently had to migrate my QB merchant account from one QB online account to another once I got a new accountant. I run a subscription site and ALL OF MY CUSTOMERS CREDIT CARD DATA WAS LOST during this simple migration. It's completely devastating and unacceptable that QB does this to small business owners. We have hundreds of subscribers and we are "stuck" to their merchant account because they refuse to fix this issue. Run the other way and get a new provider ASAP.
We are currently switching to a new payment processor but keeping our Quickbooks Online account but cannot get our customer's saved payment information as an encrypted export to give to our new payment processor (who is PCI compliant).
Can someone please help! I am literally unable to contact thousands of customers to recollect their payment information again, when it's already saved in Intuit Payments.
Help!!
