WHEN I SEND A PO TO A VENDOR, THE SKU DISAPPEAR. HOW CAN I CUSTOMIZE TO KEEP SKU ?

Hello there, @bodeuxb.

The option to add the SKU on an emailed purchase order is currently not available. But I have a workaround that you can consider.

You can enter your item's SKU on the description field. This way, it would still show on the purchase order when you send it to your vendor.

Here's how:

  1. Open the purchase order.
  2. On the Description column, enter the SKU.
  3. Click on Save and Close.

I've provided a screenshot below of how your PO would appear if you add the SKU on the description field.

Once done, you can then send your purchase order to your vendor with the SKU on the description column.

Don't hesitate to let me know if you have other questions about your purchase orders. I'll be here to help you.

This is ridiculous, Intuit really needs to get its act together and get this fixed. It really isnt that difficult to have the system pull the data from the SKU.

Using the work around suggested here you end up with the details being on multiple lines going down the document which means that even a purchase order with three line items will us multiple pages.

Stop suggesting a work around and simply fix the problem.

WHEN I SEND A PO TO A VENDOR, THE SKU DISAPPEAR. HOW CAN I CUSTOMIZE TO KEEP SKU ?

Hi ,

I have been raising this SKU to appear in our PO.  The SKU is pre-entered when we set up item as inventory not during PO only unless if it is a new item.  For the new QBO advanced, will it resolve this issue?

I appreciate you raising about this,  9130 3470 0063 5636.

In QuickBooks Advanced, SKUs are also pre-printed. You’ll need to set this information on your items first so it’ll show when creating PO.

Like you I’m sure other users would like to have this feature as well. Right now, I’ll personally deliver this preference to our developers for future updates.

SKU is important in raising purchase order. Now, description is not appearing in the PO printout.  I key-in the SKU in the description, but it shows in the printout as Activity and no description is showing in the PO

I substitute description to SKU, but when printing PO, only the description in showing.  Our has multiple items. I cannot use memo only.  I also configure the template, in preview it shows everything, but when printing, only the Activity (which is the description  when posting)is showing. , product service, doesn't show.

Thanks for the screenshot, 9130 3470 0063 5636.

You can save the PO instead of printing it directly from the browser. If you still can't see the Description, you can run some steps to check if a full cache is causing this behavior.

Please log in to QuickBooks in a private window. This will stop the cache from saving new browsing data. If the Description appears when you print the transaction, please go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. If not, please try other browsers to isolate the case.

On the other hand, I’ll make our engineers aware that you need to show the SKU column on your POs. In this way, they can consider this in future updates.

Please let me know if the Description column appears after doing the steps I mentioned.

Thanks! 2 columns now appear. the product/services and description. I used browser in private mode (Incognito).  I am still looking forward for the SKU to appear in the printout while keeping the Description as it is.  and also in QBO advance. I cannot recommend to client the Advance until this issue appears.  Btw, this SKU issue if not resolve will give other software an edge over QBO. Now that we are interfacing with Amazon and Shopify. SKU is important in PO to appear.

I am in agreement chrishawkins.   Simply pathetic to not have the ability to print the SKU on a PO.    Just started using this $80/month software and you can't even customize.    When you run a company and have products, those products have part numbers/SKUs.    Why have an inventory module if you can't print the part number/SKU of the item you are ordering.   I am assuming that the team that develops this software actually tests it with real companies?    Don't have the inventory module and claim that it works when you cannot even process a PO to a VENDOR without band-aids.    Disappointing
