Hello @sjohnson3,

The Sipping from address of your customer's invoices is based on the location of sale or your default company address. You'll want to update this address directly from your Accounts and Settings before creating an invoice.

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Your Company, select Accounts and Settings.
  3. Select Company.
  4. Click Address.
  5. On the Company address section, enter the address you wanted to reflect on your customer's invoices.
  6. Select Save.
  7. Click Done.

I'm adding a reference here for more ideas about receiving payments from your customers.

Thanks, we have the default set already, but some shipments don’t come from our facility. A week ago, I was able to manually change individual invoices if they didn’t ship from our facility and for some reason that ability is gone now.

Hi there, sjohnson3.

You can change the shipment address of your invoice in the Gear icon. Let me show you the steps on how to customize your invoice.

  1. In your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Go to the Gear icon and select the Custom Form Styles.
  3. Select the New style button and click Invoice.
  4. In your Design tab, Customize the template name.
  5. Click on the Content tab, and click on the Header part of the document.
  6. In the Header section click on the +Address.
  7. Enter the address, then verify the details and click Done.

I added a screen shot for your reference.

You can now create an invoice and click on the Customize tab at the bottom of the page, choose the one you've made with the right shipping address.

Count me in whenever you need further assistance. Have a good one.

We drop ship items from various places directly to our customer. It is not feasible to create a template each time we need a new address, as it can change on every invoice we send out. There is a blank box in each invoice to allow for us to enter a Shipping From address. Last week, this box defaulted to our company's shipping address and we were able to change it on each invoice as we were completing the invoice. Now, this box is blank and won't let me add a new address (see the attached). Why has this changed? Seems like a glitch in the software, and not a mistake that I am making.

Thanks for joining us in this thread, sarahjsd.

Let's try a few steps that can help us check if a browser issue is automatically putting your company's shipping address in the Shipping from field. Here's how:

Log in to your account in a private/incognito browsing session. Follow these keyboard shortcuts to start an incognito session:

  • Ctrl + Shift + n for Google Chrome
  • CTRL + SHIFT + P for Mozilla and Microsoft Edge.
  • Click File, then select New Private Window if you're using Safari

Once done, create an invoice to check if the Shipping from field is already blank and would let you enter a new address. If that's successful, proceed to deleting your browsing history to clear out the cache that;s causing the issue. Use this article as a guide: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.

Alternatively, you can use any of the browsers I'v mentioned above to further isolate the issue. All of them are compatible with QBO.

Please reach out to us again if you have other questions. We're here to look for the answers and help you again.

Thanks, but I am using the QuickBooks Online app  on Windows 10, not a web browser. I have tried clearing app data, restarting, etc. This issue is also happening for other employees.

I appreciate you for performing some troubleshooting steps to get this sorted out and clarifying the product you're using,

sarahjsd.

Aside from clearing the cache in the QuickBooks Online (QBO) app, let's try uninstalling and reinstalling it. This way, we can refresh your app and clears up the extra space used by the user’s data.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Start menu on your Windows 10.
  2. Go to Settings and tap System.
  3. Select Apps features from the left pane.
  4. Choose your QuickBooks Windows app.
  5. Press the Uninstall button.

Once done, install the app again on your program. Just follow the steps in the How do I install the app? for Windows section in this article: QuickBooks App for Windows and Mac: General support.

If the same thing happens, I'd suggest contacting our Customer Support Team. They'll pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate what's causing this issue.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Help icon on the top menu.
  2. Tick Contact Us.
  3. Enter your concern in the What can we help you with? field.
  4. Tap Let's talk.
  5. Select Start a chatGet a callback or Get the number to connect with us.

Thanks, but this didn't work, and I already spent several hours with a representative who kept asking me what the issue was repeatedly and didn't fix the problem. Not sure what to do as this is messing up tax amounts in the Tax Center (it shows taxes for the wrong county since the shipping from address is incorrect).

Interested if this issue was ever resolved. Most of my sales will be for drop ship items that ship directly from the supplier and their address needs to be referenced in the ship from location for tax purposes. Can this be done automatically or is this a manual task?

Hi there,@JPS148.

Thanks for joining this thread. I understand you need to change the shipping address for your drop-shipping business.

As additional insights, the sales forms automatically populate a different address if the Ship To Address isn't matched with your Company Information window.

Hence, ensure that the Same as company address box isn't checked. Here's how:

  1. Select the Settings icon on the top right.
  2. Choose Account and Settings.
  3. Go to Company settings and then click the Pencil icon on the Address section.
  4. Uncheck the Same as company address box.
  5. Click Save.

, thanks for the quick reply, but it's not the ship to address I need changed, it's the ship from address. that shows my address not my vendor address, even if I have a vendor assigned to the product and it is listed as a non-inventory item.

You've come to the right place, @JPS148.

Let me share some information so you'd be able to easily include the Ship From address to your sales forms.

The address reflected on the Shipping From field usually depends on the addresses entered in your Account and Settings page. This location is used in calculating the sales tax.

However, you can manually change the address displayed on the Shipping From (Location of Sale) to the address of the vendor. This way, sales taxes are accurately calculated.

Also, you'd want to make sure to enable the auto-recall form features so the system will pre-fill your transactions. The system uses the last transaction's information. Here's how

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Account and Settings.
  3. Select the Advanced menu.
  4. Hover to the Automation section.
  5. Enable the option to Pref-fill forms with previously entered content
  6. Tap Save.
  7. Hit Done.

You can read through this article for more detailed instructions: How to use auto-recall to pre-fill transactions.

@IamjuViel, any way the developers can add the vendors address automatically for ship from, either by a drop down menu or reading the vendor name in the product information? A simple, "is this shipping from a different location"? with options to choose the vendor?  I have numerous vendors and all my sales will be drop ship. I'm sure I'm not the only user that could benefit from this.

@IamjuViel - so every time I have a shipment I have to manually enter the vendor address? tedious! Any chance this task could be added by the developers? Maybe a drop down menu with the option of choosing a vendor or your own address? All of my shipments will be drop shipped from the vendor and I have numerous vendors. I'm sure I'm not the only QB user that could benefit from this solution.

Hello there, JPS148.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on how we can improve the customization option for the Ship From address on the invoice in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Adding a different Shipping From location aside from the one set up in the Account and Settings page is unavailable. However, you can follow IamjuViel's recommendation to manually change the address displayed on the Shipping From (Location of Sale) to the address of the vendor.

While we don't have an exact time frame as to when will this be available, I encourage you to visit our QuickBooks blog. From there we share the latest QuickBooks news and feature updates of the product.

Stay tuned for updates. Drop me a reply below if there's anything I can help you with. Wishing you all the best!
