Why can't I see the credit card expense in the credit card register?

Just today I noticed that I cannot see the credit card charges or the balance in my cc register.  I only see card payments.  Is this a glitch?

Why can't I see the credit card expense in the credit card register?

The balances (ending balance) always appear in the register. There's a good chance you're experiencing a browser-related issue. That's why the credit card charges, and the balance are not showing up immediately. I'll help you fix this right now, suzannek1.

Before anything else, follow these steps to review your transactions based on the date you need.

  1. In the credit card register, click the Funnel icon.
  2. Select the Date field. You can choose custom to enter specific start and end dates.
  3. Choose the type of transaction you want to generate/
  4. Hit Apply to reflect the changes.

If the transactions don't go through after following the steps above, you can access QuickBooks Online account in a private browser to check if the problem is due to your browser settings or extensions. Here are the shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

If it works fine, clear the browser cache to boost your browser's speed and overall performance. You can also use another browser.

In addition to this, you can add the QuickBooks balance and Bank balance columns from the Chart of Accounts (COA) page. To do this, click the small Gear icon. Then, tick the QuickBooks balance and Bank balance.

Why can't I see the credit card expense in the credit card register?

Not a browser issue.  Still could not see it.   So I am hoping it is a glitch that Intuit will fix.   It is the same with all my bank registers.

We appreciate you for performing the troubleshooting steps, @suzannek1.

Since you're still unable to view your credit card charges and balance in your register, you can fix this by checking the Include inactive box on the Chart of accounts page. I've included a screenshot below for your reference.

Why can't I see the credit card expense in the credit card register?

For anyone else who experiences this, you need to click on "Date" in the bank/cc register at the top of the column with dates.  Click until dates are in the order you prefer.  this will bring back the transactions and the balances.
