OH MY GOSH! I'm surprised there are not more people complaining about this.
So far I have found 2 other threads regarding this issue.
- Issue began after 11/06/22 QBO monthly update
- PDF attachments prior to 11/06/22 still open in a new tab
- PDF attachments after 11/06/22 will not open in a new tab . Only offers to "save as" which means downloading a PDF file I just UPLOADED
- You can upload & view other file types. But not PDF
In microsoft edge, chrome, and safari no matter what settings I've edited in the browser I cannot view PDF file in a new tab.
This is not a computer or browser issue.
This is a QUICKBOOKS ONLINE issue running in the background that none of us "end users" have the ability to fix on our own regardless of recommendations by QBO bots telling us to change the settings in our browsers.
Other QBO customers have spent hours on the phone with support trying to discover workarounds for this issue. YET nothing... in 3 months of monthly QBO updates has fixed this problem???
QUICKBOOKS ENGINEERS - What setting did you turn on/off that is preventing users from seeing their PDF file attachments????
Reaching out to QBO HELP and CONTACT US does not produce results.
If it did, this problem would have been resolved by now.
Hi fetherheth,
I had this problem also. I did the following and it seems to have fixed the problem [for now] in Chrome:
1 Download the attached file in Chrome.
2 At the bottom of the page where it shows what file had been downloaded, click on the arrow next to the file.
3 Select Always open files of this type.
It should now open the files when clicked on going forward. You may have to do this for each type of file [ex. pdf, doc, docx, xlsx, etc]
I got the same problem.
