Why is the last memorized transaction always the one highlighted when you open memorized transactions?

I have been using QuickBooks for 30 years since the DOS version. Sometimes things do not make sense. Here is my question: Why is the last memorized transaction always the one highlighted when you open the memorized transactions list window? This causes you to have to scroll up to see what is actually due next when sorted by Next Date. It would make more sense to highlight the next one due or even just the first one in the list (regardless of the sort). Any ideas what I can do about this?

Welcome to the Community, Joe at Sidmar!

QuickBooks highlights the latest memorized transaction or the one at the top when you open the Memorized Transaction list. But, you can arrange their order according to your preferences. Simply drag the diamond icon beside the transaction and put the one you want to highlight at the top of the list. For more detailed information, you can visit this article: Create, edit, or delete memorized transactions.

We understand that it would be helpful to automatically sort the memorized transaction list by due date. However, this feature is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). To help improve your experience with QBDT, your valuable feedback goes directly to our product development team for review and consideration.

Here's how to send it:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and choose Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or suggestions.
  3. Click Next to submit.

Just in case you want the same settings of the customized report to be available for future use, check out this article: Create, access, and modify memorized reports.

Please let me know in the comments if you have any other concerns besides your memorized transactions. I'd be glad to help you out. Stay safe!

Thank you for your response. Dragging an item to the top of the list made it the default whenever I open the list. This was helpful as I simply chose a memorized transaction without a next due date and then sorted by Next Date and this solved my issue. The list always opens at the top now.
