Because they can. They won't stop until customers respond by leaving in droves.

Hi moli,

I understand that getting ads from QuickBooks isn't your preference. On the other hand, it's important for you to control your invoice format and templates. Let's work together to find a solution.

Intuit is sending ads and promotions to inform you about new features, updates, or special offers that could benefit your business. We may also use these communications to keep you informed about relevant products and services that could enhance your experience with QuickBooks.

If you prefer not to receive these communications, you can adjust your notification settings.

  1. Follow this link: https://accounts.intuit.com/
  2. Sign in using your QuickBooks (Intuit) credentials. This opens your Intuit account page.
  3. Go to Preferences, and then Email & SMS Communications section.
  4. Choose the QuickBooks tab and uncheck the communication items you don't like.
  5. Click Save.

About the change in the invoice format. we change the invoice formats in QBO to improve user experience, update the design to be more modern and professional, or to add new features and functionalities that benefit the users. These changes are often made to keep the software up to date and competitive in the market.

If you are on the Essentials or Plus plan, you can revert to the old interface by following these steps:

  1. On the left navigational bar, click the +New button.
  2. Select Invoice.
  3. On the top-right corner, click the Old layout button.
  4. Click the Switch layout button.
  5. Enter or select the necessary details, and then the click Leave and submit button.

If you're using the Simple Start plan, it's not currently possible to return to the old layout. However, you can submit feedback so that our engineers can consider taking your input into account for future updates.

  1. Go to the the Gear icon and choose Feedback.
  2. Enter a summary of your feedback.
  3. Select Next to submit.

Feel free to reach back out to this thread if you have more questions in mind. Have a good one.

WHY QUICK BOOKS IS SENDING ME ADD AND PROMOTIONS??? I HATE THIS! AND WHY ARE YOU CHANGING MY FORMAT AND TEMPLATES OF MY INVOICES???!!!! PLEASE DO.NOT CHANGE MY FORMATS

JessT.  Let me get this straight.  Quickbooks takes away features that actually worked for their customers and gives them something less useful.  Quickbooks response is to demand more money to actually get better service.  Loan Sharks treat their customers better than Quickbooks.  It's despicable, unethical, and fraudulent.

Welcome to the Community, @nlr. I understand your experience may not have met your expectations.

We acknowledge that changes in the layout may not always resonate with every user. Our goal is to enhance the overall user experience and ensure that the platform is as user-friendly as possible for the majority of our users.

If you're using the Plus subscription, the option to switch to the Old layout will be available.newinv.JPG

Due to the recent updates of QuickBooks Online (QBO), Simple Start and Essentials no longer have the option to switch back to the old layout. This may be the reason why the option is unavailable on your end.

If you want this feature added to the program, I suggest sending your valuable feedback to our product developers, as stated by my colleague above.

After sending the invoice to your customer, you can now record the payment once received in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if you have any further questions about your invoices. I'm always here to provide assistance in any way I can. Have a great day!

@JanbonN  RE: We acknowledge that changes in the layout may not always resonate with every user.

"Resonate"? You're kidding, right?  The changes are complete garbage. Just admit it.  Intuit has removed so many functional things from the already-minimally-functional invoices in QB Online that they're now basically useless to many customers.  And, on top of that, the new invoices are so buggy that the changes have completely broken more than a few workflows.

Hi, unfortunately, these directions (see below)  did not help because an "Old Layout button" was not available in my QB online Essentials.
