Reconciliation Reports

Each month, after I reconcile an account, I choose the option to print both the Reconciliation Summary and Reconciliation Detail reports which shows my balance on one and both reconciled and unreconciled transactions on the other.  This is great as my accountant double checks the work.

But, because we use fund accounting, there are many general journal transactions that are not on the statement.  My account reconciles perfectly, but if I try to hide transactions from before 2022 (and 2021 is closed in the menu), it changes my balance.  How do I print these reports for current year transactions only without affecting the balance?  One report is already eight pages long.

Reconciliation Reports

Hello there,

The balance on the reconciliation report is the balance of all the reconciled transactions. Thus, hiding some transactions will affect the reporting balance.

However, you can export the reports as Excel and then hide the transactions manually while leaving the balance as is.

I've also added some links you can check. These will show you additional details about reconciliation:

Reconciliation Reports

Thanks @Adrian_A.  I would be willing to put up with the hassle of deleting the non-needed transactions in Excel.  However, when I go to Reports --> Banking --> Previous Reconciliation to pull the monthly reports, it automatically outputs them as .pdfs.  All of my other reporting options allow me to export as Excel docs.  This option does not seem to be allowed for these two reports.  Is there another method?

We appreciate your quick response, St Paul.

Yes, you're right. The Previous Reconciliation report is always displayed as a PDF file. I recognize and see how important to get the information you need from this report and generate it as an Excel file.

For now, I recommend sending your feedback to our product developers. Our team will review your suggestion and might include this in the product updates. We can follow the steps below and share with them the benefits of this option.

  1. Open the QuickBooks Desktop program and select the Help menu.
  2. Click on Send Feedback Online and choose Product Suggestion.

Still, we can visit and check these articles for guides about managing reports and additional tips about reconciling accounts:
