Registered Balance does not match general ledger after reconciliation.

Hi,

I'm facing an issue where my

ending statement balance is $103,295.04

uncleared transaction is -$54,429.09

registered balance is $48,865.95

but my general ledge shows that it's supposed to be $64,439.47.

Why is there a difference in $15,573.52 and how do I fix it?

Hello, spaxxe.

I have ways to check for the difference and help you fix it. Take note that this can affect your books. Seeking an accountant is recommended before proceeding.

There might be a bunch of transactions that were not supposed to be reconciled. You'll want to review the previous reconciliation report to double-check them. Here's how:

  1. Go to Accounting, then select the Reconcile tab.
  2. Click the History by account link.
  3. Choose the Account and Report period.
  4. Open the year with statement ending date.
  5. Click View report

The report will show you a detailed list of all reconciled transactions. You'll want to review the list and check to see what transactions are causing the difference.

You can correct the reconciled period by undoing the process. You can check this article to know how: Undo and remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.

You'll also want to check both of your uncleared and cleared transactions and see if they're causing the difference. Here's how:

  1. Open a Balance Sheet report.
  2. Select your bank account by double-clicking on the amount.
  3. In the Transaction Report overview, click the Customize button.
  4. Expand the Filter view.
  5. Check the Cleared box.
  6. Select Cleared or Uncleared in the drop-down menu.
  7. Click Run report.

After finding what's causing the difference, you'll want to double check your General Ledger report. Then, compare it with your register balance.

Registered Balance does not match general ledger after reconciliation.

Hello,

I have a similar issue. I followed your instructions regarding double checking the bank recons.

They are all in balance. I ran the uncleared transactions report and found several transactions, mostly outstanding checks.

I also found a credit card payment from December. If my bank reconciliations are in balance, how do I fix

this payment? What could be the reason for this? I don't think that by un-doing the reconciliations will correct it.

Thank you.
