How do I create a report showing total income (just want that year's total) over several years IOW a list of each year with a single total income amount for each year?

There is no report that I'm aware of that just shows revenue by year.  But, you can run a Profit & Loss, click 'Customize Report', and select a date range to include all 15 years.  Under 'Display columns by', select 'Year'.  That will give you a P&L by year for the past 15 years.  That will show you yearly revenue along with expenses and other income/expenses.  Minimize sections or export to Excel and delete what you don't want.

Hi there, karenap. Let me get the help you need in running the report you wanted.

 

In QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, we have the Profit & Loss YTD Comparison report that you can run. It'll display yearly data separated by column for easy comparison.

 

To pull up the report, here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Reports menu at the top.
  2. Select Company & Financial from the drop-down menu.
  3. Choose Profit & Loss YTD Comparison.
  4. Click the Customize Report button to customize the report further.
  5. Adjust the date range and other settings as needed.
  6. Click OK.

Thanks for trying to help. But this doesn't give me the steps I need for what I want. I have tried all the customizations but get nothing like what I want. 

I want to print out a simple report of the last 15 years and each year I just want to see the total income $ for each year. So the report would just be 15 lines showing on each line a year and a total $ number. 
If I do a range of years it just adds all those years together for a grand total.

I know a way you can generate the report you need, karenap. I'll guide you through the process below.

 

Before we begin, I'd like to address the disappearance of your response in the QuickBooks Community. We can see your reply on our side. Don't worry, we'll make sure you get the solution you need and report this incident to have it investigated properly.

 

I agree with Rainflurry that you can pull up and then customize the date range and columns of the Profit and Loss report to display your business data for the last fifteen (15) years. Then, you can export it simplify its details. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to Reports and select Report Center.
  2. Double-click the Profit and Loss report you want to create.
  3. On the report window, select Customize.
  4. From the customize window, choose the tab you like to update.
  5. Click the Export to Excel button. You can then use formatting and data analysis features to further customize it.
  6. Choose File and then Save As to save the file where you want it.
