Scanning receipts and documents

Hi Tnasmithauto,

You can use our QuickBooks app since you're already using your mobile device to capture receipts. This comes with a built-in receipt scanning function to help you track and organize expenses.

You can find more details on how it works here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/features/receipts/

There are also third-party applications in the App Centre that offer similar scanning services.

Here's how to find them:

  1. On the left panel, click Apps.
  2. Click the Find Apps tab.
  3. Enter a keyword in the Search for an app box or use the Browse Category and select Document Management.
  4. Press Ctrl + F on your keyboard and search for scanner.

I'll be around if you have other questions about QuickBooks. Thanks.

Scanning receipts and documents

I have been looking and looking all over this community to find out how to scan a receipt from my phone and all it brings up is this article.  I would like to know step by step how to scan a receipt, not how to purchase quickbooks! I am a qbo user with the mobile app for android and I cannot for the life of me figure out why it's not on this forum or community or why it's got to be so difficult. Thank you in advance.

I'm here to help you scan a receipt, FrustratedInIowa.

You can turn your phone's camera into an instant receipt scanner. Once you take a photo of your receipt, QuickBooks will scan the image, then attaches it to the expense for proper tracking.

I'll walk you how:

  1. Click the 3 horizontal lines icon.
  2. Go to Vendors, then choose a vendor.
  3. Click the Plus sign (+) icon, then choose Create Expense.
  4. Click the Camera icon.
  5. You'll receive some messages asking if you'll allow QuickBooks Online to take photos and videos and access your device files, click Allow
  6. Choose a source (Camera or Files), then add the receipt.
  7. Fill in the necessary fields, then click Done.

I've got screenshots as your reference.
