Sorting Item List in Budget vs Actual QB Reports

When generating budget vs. actual reports in QuickBooks, I noticed that the item list under expenses aren't consistently sorted in numeric order. I've re-sort the list options in the settings but the QB reports still aren't displaying the items correctly. While some items are sorted properly, others remain out of order.

I'm using the Premier 2021 version of QuickBooks with the ability to toggle to the contractor features.

Do you have any advice on how to correct the budget vs actual reports in QB?

Sorting Item List in Budget vs Actual QB Reports

I understand how challenging this is, Cookie. I appreciate the steps you've performed.

When we encounter unexpected situations while using QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), it is encouraged to perform basic troubleshooting steps to resolve them.

To get started, we can use the Verify tool to fix these common company file data issues.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Window tab, then select Close All.
  2. Go to the Filemenu, and then hit Utilities.
  3. Choose Verify Data. If you see:
      • QuickBooks detected no problems with your data: The data is clean.
      • An error message: We can search for it on our QuickBooks Desktop support site on how to fix it.
      • Your data has lost integrity: Data dais detected. Rebuild your data to fix it.

Then, we can Rebuild your company file data to ensure we can completely remove any problems.

However, if the issue persists, we can use the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub to fix common QuickBooks Desktop issues.

Additionally, I've added these articles about how you can manage your reports in QBDT:
